looking for a Mesa Rectoverb 50 combo

Hey there. Did you ever find a Rectoverb 50? I have a series 2 for sale. I'm in Spring Hill, Tennessee.

Tube replacement with other than Mesa or Groove Tubes.

The MB preamp tubes I replaced were JJs and the source of my muddy tone. After replacing them with the combination I mentioned above, the tone has greatly improved. In the power sectiion, I put MB "yellow" 6L6s. One tech told me that even though they are Mesa tubes, the yellows are too cold...

Tube replacement with other than Mesa or Groove Tubes.

Interesting about the 6ca7s blowing up. I've had a set of those in my H&k for years and they've been great. The peeps at MB said they haven't tested them so they couldn't advise about them. I do have a bias switch for el34s so I'll give the Gold Lions a try too. Thanks for the tip.

Tube replacement with other than Mesa or Groove Tubes.

After various combinations, here is what I'm going with in the Nomad: V1 Electro Harmonix V2 Ruby V3 Tung Sol V4 Ruby V5 Sovtek LPS Channel 1 is crystal clear with a slight edginess. Channel 2 has a crispy crunch with tight low end and very good note definition...

    Mesa power tube color codes?....

I'm having trouble dialing in a good tone on a Nomad 100 I just bought. I replaced the old mixed tubes it came with for a quad of MB 6L6 yellows. It sounds very grainy and muddy still. I've been told from a reliable outside source that the Nomad specifically sounds best with blues or whites...

Tube replacement with other than Mesa or Groove Tubes.

Thanks for all of the advice. I read some articles published by Myles at guitaramplifierbluprinting.com and was able to get some personal feedback from him too. Myles suggested I also reach out to Mike at KCA and based on a lot of answers by people who know way too much about tubes, I will...

Can anyone confirm mods are common for all in the nomad line

I just got a Nomad 100 combo and it's muddy to the point that I want to turn around and sell it. It's not a good muddy either. What's the fix?

    Still loving my Nomad ...

I just acquired a used Nomad 100 watt 1X12 after a buddy of mine had a 55 2X12 that sounded awesome. I got the 100 watt because of the 50 watt option for smaller venues. I re-tubed the power section with MB 6L6s but the preamp tubes are probably the originals. Channel 1 sounds ok, but has a...

    Thoughts on the Peavey 6505

I knew they were close to the same, but it makes sense that Peavey wouldn't change such a great amp as the 5150. I didn't know the origin of the name 6505 so thanks for that tidbit. The market went up for a while after EVH left Peavey. I bought my 5150 head used for 400 and sold it a few...

Tube replacement with other than Mesa or Groove Tubes.

Thanks. This is the first MB I've owned. What's your experience with MB tubes versus other brands? The MB 6L6s I put in sound fine, but I don't get single note definition and clarity that I get out of my H & K. Is that a tube thing or an amp thing?

    Thoughts on the Peavey 6505

I had a 5150 head and I loved it. I sold it because it was just more than I needed. I have heard the 6505 is comparable so you can't go wrong. Take a look at the Hughes and Kettner stuff too. I have a Switchblade 100 combo and it has better tone from clean to crazy than anything I've played...

Tube replacement with other than Mesa or Groove Tubes.

I just picked up a used Nomad 100 1X12. When I got it, it had a mix of Groove Tubes and Marshall power tubes that appeared to be from the Nixon administration era. I re-tubed with Mesa 6L6s (yellow) and it sounds great. However, I would like to experiment a little with the tone. I have a set of...

Mesa Boogie Nomad 100- tube questions

I just picked up a used Nomad 100 1X12. Although the manual and Mesa techs say the inner tubes go into standby in the 50 watt mode, mine works opposite. The outer tubes go into standby and the inner tubes remain on in 50 watt mode. I tested it by removing each pair and it definately works...
