Mark V slow to power up - bad transformer???

I wanted to update this post just in case someone runs into the same issue. I sent me Mark V back to Mesa a few weeks ago and just got a call with an update. Turns out I had a leaky capacitor in the low-voltage section of my amp, causing it to power up slowly. It doesn't sound like this comes...

Mark V slow to power up - bad transformer???

Yes, I am turning the power switch on first, letting it warm up, then turning it on. I think you are probably right and it probably justifies a trip to a tech and/or Mesa for an evaluation. I also called the Mesa/Boogie Hollywood store last week and they haven't hear of this kind of problem...

Mark V slow to power up - bad transformer???

This might very well be the case. I did make another observation after playing around with my Mark V a little more over the last couple of weeks. I noticed that I am only experiencing the issue with it slow to power up when it hasn't been used for a while. I'm not in a band anymore so I haven't...

Mark V slow to power up - bad transformer???

Hey All, I've been having a difficult time troubleshooting an issue I've been having with my Mark V head. I've done some searches here and on the net but haven't had much luck. I've already talked to a tech at Mesa in Petaluma but he wasn't able to offer much guidance other than suggesting...

    Alice in chains tone

I can get some pretty decent AIC tones with my Mark V in channel 2 in "Crunch" mode, full power at 90 watts. The EQ is at moderate settings but I've got the gain up around 3 o'clock. I sometimes use my Fulltone OCD to help drive the front end. Hope that helps.

Where is the serial number on a Mark V head?

Does it face out (towards the back)? Anyone have a pic by any chance?

Where is the serial number on a Mark V head?

So I was filling out the warranty card for my new Mesa Mark V head and realized that I couldn't find the serial number anywhere on the head. I used the serial number from the hang tag but I'd still like to know where it is on the head. I even Googled images of the rear side of the Mark V head...

    Mark V head arrived today!

Well, so much for the "hectic schedule". Funny how your priorities change when you get a new toy! :D I just spent about an hour with my new MV in my basement and I already have it dialed in about 90% where I want it. I remembered what settings I was digging when I test drove it a couple of...

    Mark V head arrived today!

I love my Roadster. If the Roadster was around in '02 when I bought my Dual Recto, I would have bought the Roadster instead. I still love my Dual Recto, too. But the Roadster does everything the Dual Recto does and more, IMO. My new Mark V isn't intended to replace my Roadster, but I...

    Mark V head arrived today!

Well just about 8 weeks to the day since I ordered it, my new Mesa/Boogie Mark V head arrived today! Below are a couple of cell phone pics I snapped right after I pulled it out of the box. You'll notice that I ordered it with the "Mesa Engineering" logo centered on the grill rather...

Any rumors about adding reverb to the Stilettos???

I've seen the topic come up from time to time as to why Mesa doesn't include reverb on the Stilettos. Seems to me that with the Mark Series and the Rectos recently getting a face lift, that the Stilettos might be next in line. I could only assume/hope that might include the addition of reverb...

What kind of tubes come stock in Mark V's?

The preamp tubes, power amp tubes, or both? If I recall correctly, Mesa started using JJ's for the preamp tubes a couple of years ago, but they were still using Chinese tubes for their power tubes.

What kind of tubes come stock in Mark V's?

I ordered my Mesa Mark V a little over a month ago and I was wondering what type of power and preamp tubes Mesa is using in their amps now. Are the pre amp tubes JJ's? Are the power amp tubes Chinese or Russian? What is everyone's overall opinion of the stock compliment of tubes? I've had...

    Mark V problems ...

I have to agree with the other posts. You are going to hear all the bad things because people come hear looking for answers to their questions and problems. Most of the issues people that have brought up about the the Mark V end up being tube related or a loose cable. Rule #1 in electronics...

Mark V owners: Does your mark V have this inscription?

My old Rect-O-Verb had that. I don't know the serial number but it was a Series II. I cracked up the first time I read that.

    Pulled the trigger!

Agreed. I wouldn't sell my Recto's if for no other reason than to have some more flexibility and options when recording. What remains to be seen is if my Mark V will be my gigging amp. I'm quite certain it will be. I used to be in a cover band and the tone and 4 channel flexibility I got...

    Pulled the trigger!

After several trips to my pusher over the last few months, I decided to pull the trigger on a Mark V head. I wasn't originally looking for a new amp (I own a Dual Recto and a Roadster and love them both), I just wanted to play through a Mark V more out of curiosity than anything. I played a...

Anyone else have a chance to test drive one yet?

Got to play a "new" revamped DR today

Cool. I'd love to try one out. I've been saying for several years now that the DR needed a facelift in order to keep up withe the Roadster and some other amps in their lineup. I'm glad to see that they revamped it without totally pulling away from it's roots. I'll have to give one a test...

    NAMM 2010 thread

Exactly. I went to NAMM in '06 and have no affiliations with the music industry on a professional level. I just asked one of my local pushers (who will remain anonymous  ) and he hooked me up. Well worth going if you ever get the chance but it certainly isn't an every year type of...
