Mesa F30: How long do the tubes last for?

Well, I don't think it'll cost $300 to retube everything once. In Canada, the shop sells 4 preamp tubes for around $60. Add another $20 for a pair of power tubes. Still, one year doesn't seem that long. I was hoping for a bit longer..

Mesa F30: How long do the tubes last for?

Some tubes last forever?! When it blows, would I have to do something and replace something? Mesa F30 sounds cool, but I worry about tube change and I don't know when I need to change sometimes. Plus, it gets pricey if I do a full re-tube. Based on my usage, anyone want to throw out of number...

Mesa F30: How long do the tubes last for?

I play about 2-8 times a month at gig volumes or band volumes. How long will the power tubes in the F30 last for? How about the preamp tubes?

What to backup Mark IIB during gig?

Interesting. I know I'm getting a bit off topic, but which type of distortion sounds better? Through preamps or power tubes? Or would this be a preference sort of thing? That said, does that mean Mesa tube amps wear preamps faster than other amps? I like the distortion from my IIB by the way.

Comparison between F-series and Mark series

BTW, I'm not sure if this thread is in the right section. Vintage amps? So excuse me.

Comparison between F-series and Mark series

I'm basically comparing the Mesa F-30 and the Mark IIB. I'm deciding whether I should trade my used IIB for a used F-30 or F-50. I like how the F-30 has seperate EQ settings for the 'clean' and 'lead'. Pretty useful and the distortion on the F-30 is pretty decent. The problem I have with the...

What to backup Mark IIB during gig?

Bias range.... How do I know the range for my IIB? Are all Mesa's the same within the range? BTW, replacing tubes in pairs. So basically, that would mean if one tube is blown and the other is okay, you still want to replace both of them. Isn't that kind of a waste though? What about te other...

What to backup Mark IIB during gig?

Hi guys, If I were to gig with this, but I don't want to bring an extra amp along (because my other one is 15 watts), would a few power tubes and preamp tubes be good enough? Say for example, my left 6L6 tube is blown. Can I go to the store and purchase any 6L6 tubes and replace it with the...

What is the Mark IIB worth?

How are you liking it? I just played with it again. The lead channel is nice and I am getting a good clean. Maybe the crappy sound came from my cheap guitar. I am now using a Korean strat and it sounds nice. By the way, I am using a Boss GE7. I dialed in the 'V' shape, but I'm getting better...

What is the Mark IIB worth?

That's pretty high. Is that $800 in usd? Because I live in Canada.

Just got my MKIII back from Mesa!

How much did everything cost in whatever dollars?

What is the Mark IIB worth?

60 watts is a bit too much for my use, so I am thinking about a 30 watt tube amp max. How much is the IIB worth if I were to trade it? I'm looking at some of the Fender 65s, Mesa F-series. Anyone have other opinions on other amps in the same league as the Mark IIB?

Anyone ever run any of their settings at '10'?

Really? More gain will affect the lifespan of the preamp tube? Someone from the Harmony Central forum said otherwise. Something like the amp doesn't care if you use a lot of gain or all clean. "Use is use".

    Better lead channel!

I was complaining about my distortion a while back, but I like what I hear now. It's fun to play with! If I add a boost pedal/tube overdrive pedal (ie. Digitech Bad Monkey) on my lead channel, can I get even heavier? Maybe even higher gain like a Recto?

Anyone ever run any of their settings at '10'?

Is that overkill for an amp like Mesa?

    Better lead channel!

I don't have the slider EQ, so I was thinking of an EQ pedal. How about a rackmount? Can a boost pedal also give me heavier tones on the lead channel?

    Better lead channel!

I've been tweaking my Mark IIB for a while now and so far the gain is nice! Alright, so I turn up volume 1 and the treble up pretty high today to make it sound better. Does volume 1 control the amount of preamp distortion? Will my preamp tubes need to be replaced quicker if so? I think for...

Pedalboard or modeler with Mesa Mark IIB?

WOuld using a PodXT Live hinder the tone on the Mark IIB? I mean, it's a good amp. I heard the Line 6 Podxt Live does not have a true bypass and currently I like my Mesa clean channel. I don't want that to change significantly besides adding effects. The tone on the clean is nice. It's just the...

Recommend pedals for the Mark IIB

Hey all! I like the clean channel so far, but I am still unsatisfied with the lead channel. Any recommended distortion/overdrive pedals I should be looking into. I think I might get a Boss GE-7 as well, but also looking for better lead. Recommendations and advice please!

Pedalboard or modeler with Mesa Mark IIB?

Cool, I was thinking about using a Line 6 Podxt Live though. Everything seems to be in there, but I don't know. Some pedals sound pretty cool, should I go with both? And by the way, what's 'no frills' in your sig?
