Try a parametric eq to tighten up a rectifier!!!!!

I've had my DR for about a year now and have tried everything to try to get the sound I was looking for. A TS9 helped a lot but it was still lacking. Then I added a Mesa 5-band EQ pedal to my board and WOW!, what a difference! The DR is a great amp but there's so much more Mesa could have done...

Mesa Grid Slammer vs Maxon OD808

Matt, I think I know the sound you're looking for. I too thought about replacing my Tube Screamer with a Grid Slammer but soon came to the conclusion that the Tube Screamer is doing exactly what it's supposed to do, just as your Maxon 808. Replacing it with a Grid Slammer might offer some...

PRS SE vs the real thing?

I have a Tremonti SE Custom for sale in the classifieds. http://forum.grailtone.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=68193 I'm not sure why folks say these guitars are "freakishly light". This one weights close to 10 lbs., which is one of the reasons I've decided to let it go. The Tremonti SE Custom has...

Mesa Grid Slammer vs Maxon OD808

Well, I called Mesa after reading this thread and was told the "Grid Slammer" is in fact what I would want to use to replace my tube screamer. I guess maybe I didn't explain myself clearly to the first person I spoke with. I dunno.

Holy Smokes! DR Channel 3 sounds like an ice pick!

All channels share the same tubes and the issues are only with channel 3. :?: Took the amp in for service last night.

Holy Smokes! DR Channel 3 sounds like an ice pick!

When I first got my DR, I noticed a higher presence on channel 3 which I later discovered was just a different value for the presence control. Otherwise, channel 2 and 3 were pretty much identical. From then on, I have been using channel 2 because it sounded "warmer" to my ears and never used...

Mesa Grid Slammer vs Maxon OD808

I'm looking to replace my TS9 with one of the new Mesa pedals but the problem I have is that all of the new pedals offered by Mesa are demo'd as distortion pedals over clean channels. So, I contacted Mesa and was told the Flux Drive is the best pedal for this application. :?:
