Your approach to dialling in the 90W

I hoping there is a ay for me to get what I want from my Mark V. Otherwise, I can sell and move on. Since I sold my Shiva 20th Anniversary, I no longer have my go to amp for classic rock, grunge and 90s rock and metal. The Mark V doesn't have that Bogner chew I love. But I struggled with the...

Your approach to dialling in the 90W

Wow, some very deep and insightful writing about the EQ of this amp. I pretty much always keep the graphic EQ in the classic V since Boogie recommended that as do a lit of pro players. That said, I'm going to try really messing around with them now. I lean toward very thick, the darker side...

Your approach to dialling in the 90W

I always use 90w mode as I find it bigger, fuller and punchier. My complaints have been heavy saturation and extreme highs. I was using the effects loop bypassed but it was so loud and it was a struggle to balance channels. I went back to using the amonwirh the loop active I watched Tone Wars...

Your approach to dialling in the 90W

What is Euge's approach? He cranks the master/output? That's too loud for my normal use. I do love the amp with the effect's loop bypassed, but it's much louder.

Your approach to dialling in the 90W

I just wish I could get more saturation from my Mark V 90. Often feels really dry and tight. I often want more squish and fat richness and saturation. Best I can get is Mark I for medium gain and Mark IV/Xtreme for heavy gain and sometimes wirh a Perla to boost, although doesn't take pedals...

    Bias mod on Mark V?

Very old post.... I wanted to say that even though the Mark V and most Mesas are biased cold for the 6L6 setting, just use a hotter grade of tubes. Eurotubes gave me a set that is graded rather hot do that it gets the bias where it should be for 6L6 tunes. Sounds better than using the stock...

Any Celestion G12K100 and CL80/C90 fans?

So the C90/T75 work well? So I bet the CL80 would mix well too. I see the T75/K100 a lot. I love the V30/T75, V30/CL80(C90), V30/K100 and V30/Redbacks. Love mixing V30s. That said, my Bogner killed with V30s, but I prefer it as V30/K100. I have a China V30/K100 that rocks. Also had two China...

    Extreme or Mark IV mode

I agree, the Extreme mode sounds the biggest for high gain. I also love the Crunch mode for low to high gain!

    Extreme or Mark IV mode

I may try the loop again but this time with just a small patch cable, to see if it still sounds and feels better without. If I get an EQ, I may grab the Mesa Five band EQ pedal, or the Orange Two Stroke.

Any Celestion G12K100 and CL80/C90 fans?

For my band, to cut the mix well, best mix I have found is English V30/Redback. CL80s and K100s work well mixed in too. I find, I need to have the thickness, girth and punch of the V30 in most of my cabs. Don't seem bright at all to me.

Mark V with 6CA7 or EL34? Any opinions if you tried them

6ca7 you set to el34. I am back to using JJ 6l6.

    Extreme or Mark IV mode

Thanks, I don't use the loop. It's sounds and feels so much better with the loop bypassed.

    FX LOOP BYPASS SOUNDS GREAT!

Bump old post.... Very old post but I just realized my Mark V sounds so much better with loop bypassed.

Mark V with 6CA7 or EL34? Any opinions if you tried them

That's why I use 6CA7 tubes, you get the big tight bass or 6L6, even tighter.... No ice pick highs and thick midrange. Replaced all my EL34s.

Mark V tubes, speakers and more..

Haha... I have WD-40 as well, plus WD-40 silicone spray. I also have liquid duct tape - that stuff is cool! I've repaired a few minor speaker issues with that magic liquid. Oh my girlfriend and I also use WD-40 Intimate lube! I bring duct tape and WD-40 to bed. She loves it. :twisted...

Extreme vs. IV mode, besides volume boost what.....

Agreed. Mesa says the Mark IV mode sounds bigger, bigger bass, more gain and chunkier low end. I don't find that to be the case. I find Extreme to be bigger, throaty and chuck. For leads, I prefer theliquid lead of Mark IV mode, but I can do fine on Extreme. Crunch is a good Marshall tone...

Any Celestion G12K100 and CL80/C90 fans?

I've been using the Redbacks and V30s a lot lately, but I've been mixing the V30 with a K100 in a 212 and CL80 or K100 with a Redback in another 212. I really live the results of all these speakers with the Mark V. Curious if anyone else is digging these speakers and what your experience has...

    Extreme or Mark IV mode

Hey guys, For my bands high gain sound, I have really settled on thre Extreme mode. However, I was reading today in the Mark V manual that Mark IV mode has more and deeper low end than Extreme, yielding the biggest and chunkieat heavy riffing. Have you found this to be the case? I have found...
