I have a MK IV combo with the EV and run an old Sovtek 4x12 pine cabinet with Eminence "V30" style speakers in it. Sounds really great to me. A lot better than just the EV.

This probably won't help but I had some weird static on certain notes on the clean channel and it turned out to be that the input on a digital reverb rack unit was being overdriven. Almost sounded like fret buzz. Turned down the input level on the reverb unit and it went away.

I've wondered the same thing. Would it hurt the amp to footswitch between Simulclass and Class A, back and forth, maybe even several time during a song? Dozens of times during a set? Is the amp designed to handle that?

I think you're running the gain too high on the tube screamer. It should be set more like a clean boost. With my MKIV I use an overdrive pedal set pretty subtly to just enhance the distortion from the amp, not to add tons of distortion to the amp. I also set up the amp for the best sound and...
