    Extension Cab for MKIV combo

I have a MK IV combo with the EV and run an old Sovtek 4x12 pine cabinet with Eminence "V30" style speakers in it. Sounds really great to me. A lot better than just the EV.

Help please! Mark IV static sound on low E string.

This probably won't help but I had some weird static on certain notes on the clean channel and it turned out to be that the input on a digital reverb rack unit was being overdriven. Almost sounded like fret buzz. Turned down the input level on the reverb unit and it went away.

    Compressor stompbox for cleans, MKIV

I've had a Boss CS2, a Blackbox Oxygen, an HBE CPR and most recently a Suhr Koji Comp. The Koji Comp is really nice. The only other one I still have is the CPR since it's a little warmer and good for some things. The Boss and Oxygen was just too noisy. Not sure how the Suhr will work with...

Switching from Class A to Simul Class on Mk IV

I've wondered the same thing. Would it hurt the amp to footswitch between Simulclass and Class A, back and forth, maybe even several time during a song? Dozens of times during a set? Is the amp designed to handle that?

New home for Mark IV combo

Hoping for help with my clean channel !

V4 is the reverb tube. It's supposed to be a 12AT7. "For replacing the preamp tube in V1 the electronics need to be seperated from the chassis and the reverb tank. " Not sure what's going on there. Just reach back there and take the little can off the V1 tube. It's spring loaded so push it...

Hoping for help with my clean channel !

Maybe the preamp tube in the V1 spot is not a 12AX7 (some guys replace it with a lower gain option like a 12AU7 - not sure if the amp is new to you) or it's just a bad tube and needs to be replaced. You should be getting some dirt on R1 with those pickups and the gain turned up to 10. Where...

Mk-IV Volume knob is very touchy

Sounds like mine. You can turn the channel masters down to 2 or 3 and it will make the main output knob less touchy. I like the channel masters run around 5 or so (makes the amp sound more raw, less smooth to my ears - I think you're hitting the output tubes harder when you turn up the...

Mark I, II, III, IV, V...why?

The article seems to say that there are other great amps that haven't changed at all. Really? All great amps are eventually discontinued or changed. Things change. Just more Mesa bashing. But hey, if some guys want to sell their amp because they suddenly want one with a tighter sound or...

    Mark IV sample settings

I've had mine since '92 and I still find that I've forgotten great ways to set the amp and rediscover them all the time. Such a great amp.

    Mark IV sample settings

I thought I was the only one who thought that! The volume jumps all over the place in those settings. Weird. Haven't looked at them in a long time. Might take a look and see if I'm close to any of them now.

Mark IV A version Stereo Setup

I run a stereo rack processor in the MKIV effects loop and go back into the loop return with the left output and out to another amp with the right output.* You could run two cabs with your amp (I'm guessing you have an 8ohm cab and are getting another 8ohm cab) but you won't get any stereo ping...

Non Metal Mark IV users?? Are there any?

After reading this thread I decided to put some EL3s I had in the closet back in my MK IV and am running them on class A, tweed and triode. (Had been running four 6L6s on pentode.) **** nice. Takes some of the brittle high end out of R2 a little better than tweaking the tone controls and eq...

Looking to join the Mark family & need advice

I'm the original owner of a IV that I've had for 22 years and will never get rid of it. So many sounds in there. The lead channel is incredible and I'm getting the best clean tones I've ever had on channel one. Channel two is also great - maybe just not as great as the others due to the...

Mark 3 and Tube Screamer Dont sound good?

I think you're running the gain too high on the tube screamer. It should be set more like a clean boost. With my MKIV I use an overdrive pedal set pretty subtly to just enhance the distortion from the amp, not to add tons of distortion to the amp. I also set up the amp for the best sound and...

Hidden Gem of a cab + straight 4x12 cab talk

I'm running a MKIV into a pine Sovtek 4x12 with Emminence V30 copies. Sounds great to me.

Mesa boogie mark iv or mark v advice

I haven't spent much time at all with the V but I found it way too stiff. My MKIV channel 3 seems to have more girth and the tone seems more complex. (I did replace all the tubes with JJs and like the amp more than with the Mesa tubes.) I'm not a big fan of Lamb of God but I did notice they...

    Warmth

You might even try nickel strings and an extra heavy celluloid pick. Those two things will warm things up a bit, but maybe not enough.
