Hi guys and gals,
Been a while but am needing to downsize so am looking at getting a small cab (possibly 1 x 12) instead of my Mesa rectifier 4 x 12 and therefore running mono ... Ideas/user advice would be hugely welcome.
I will be using the usual Sm57 in front of whatever cab I buy into desk...
Ok here's the problem...
Went to rehearsal last night, and powered up the triaxis... All well initially then all the presets that had gain eg lead 2 yellow lead 1 red... Nothing but weedy cleans .... !
So I swopped out the tubes one by one to no avail.... Never done this before..
Bypassed all...
Have the above rig running with a g-force in between the two into recto 4 12.
Thing is of late all the Highs have gone bye byes, and sounds like there is a blanket over the cab.. Even with the presence way up on the power amp.... New to me this one!
The tri was retubed 2 years ago using nos...
Does anyone own one, have an opinion etc?? Just looking to buy a new gtr and this popped into my head!! heard that it was the best strat fender make??!!
Ah I see, nothing to do with the getter! (is this kind of tube failure rare or just luck of the draw?) I'm not using the loop...but I run stereo into my 20/20.
So those copper stoppers do what they say on the tin then...and draw heat away quicker? I have three fans pulling air through the rig...
Hi Thom, Ive popped onother one in and it works fine again.... thing was I was playing and I heard a 'pop' and the left channel lost all but a little volume.... so process of elimination I tracked it down just pleased it an $18 tube!!...I have those copper stoppers on most of the tubes in the...
Hi chaps has anyone had this happen; I was happily playing my Triaxis rig today and I lost the right channel and tracked the problem down to the 12 BZ7 I have in V5...the halo getter had kinda parted like a burnt fuse...bummer...
Should I put this down to a simple tube failure or some thing...
If you took the time to look around the site, there is a wealth of information just waiting to be tapped...
As for the comment, this forum has no time for that sort of thing... I think perhaps you need look else ware to be able to be 'childish'
'Deoxit' everything you can from the tube sockets to all contact points, ribbon cables etc...the lot!!
Just did my Triaxis which was suffering and it's sweet now!
Nice, but have to say you are way optimistic with the price.....I bought a 'mint' standard rect for £600 in the Uk... so £400 for the armour?
But I wish you luck!!
A 2000 Malmsteen.
This ones got a demeter mid boost, graphtec ferraglide saddles, Sperzel tuners and I've just replaced the nut with a bone one!
And as of August I stripped the neck back and gave it an oil finish, superb!
She plays real well too!!!
JJ's lasted 2 years in my Tri, and to be honest it's all to easy to trust to one mans idea of a quick fix amp 'set'.....I am now totally a NOS convert, and with out having the time at the moment to tell you why...all I can say it's like night and day!! the difference..really is...you have to...
Timbre Wolf, what a lit up tube dude! :D
Just to say a huge thanks in the PD for all your efforts putting up with a loon Englishman looking for 'Tone'
The ‘set’ is arriving next week and I will post details of findings (as best I can) I should say that the one thing this isn’t is a poor mans...
