I've been tweaking the hell out of the amp after the mod. I like it more and more.

I dod both mods and found that channel two is way bright when the drive section is engaged. I'm going to swap the gain and master pot back to stock and see what happens. It's definitely a change in character.

Thanks Charles. Do I need to to do both mods to this amp to fix the bass problem? I noticed there is another thread about changing out the mid pot on channel two. Is that a part of the mod that fixes the bass?

What are you using for jumper wire? Would resistor wire work?

THis is great. It's my first time posting. I'm going to do this mod next week. This is the only complaint I've had about my amp is the low is just too much. Thanks!

I'm using a G&L SC2 with mine... I have my drive and gain set to about 1-2 o'clock my treble is at 1 o'clock my mids are about 12-1 o'clock and the bass is about 9-10 o'clock My presence is about 4 o'clock... Every guitar and player are different.. I just got mine a few weeks ago so far I like...

Thanks Yes I got a 212 combo but I had them swap out the speakers... The amp sounded better with Vintage 30's to me...

Holy ****! I use the dirty channel with the drive switch engaged! I use it with a ground control system and it rocks! I use a old skool Dod preamp 245 pedal to add a little edge when I kick on the solo boost... I haven't been this excited about an amp in a long time! V

No Mesa's 12ax7 is a relabled EH. The 6l6 are sovtek

Also if you want to try out a stilletto ask if they can put el 34's in... Marsha;s tend to come with them

most amp builders put in whatever (cheap) works out of the box... The mesa tubes are sovteks... The preamp tubes are relabled electro harmonix and are awesome.

The 12AX7s that come in the mesa are the electro harmonix brand relabled... I decided to call the tube store and order a matched quad of 6l6 tubes for my dual recto... They burn the tube to match the bias in boogies... I ordered Svetlana "C" logo 6l6's and they sound great. You can pretty much...

no... only at the time of purchase.. at least thats what they said.

Also make sure you A/B the speakers.. I actually prefer both the classic and the special with vintage 30's over the C90.. A huge difference. The great news is that Mesa will switch the speakers out at no additional charge. The bummer is you can't return the amp but it's still under full warranty.
