Hey guys, I've got a Nomad 55 that I boost the front end with a modded Rat pedal. My gain and volume on the pedal aren't too high, only about 1/4 of the dial. I run the amp gain at about 2 o'clock sometimes for that over the top Eddie VH type sound. I love the sound of it but am concerned about...

I see alot of posts about users boosting their front end with various pedals to get more gain. Is there a downside that goes with doing this? Shortened tube life? How much boost is too much? Thanks in advance for any insight. There are alot of knowledgeable folks here. Joe
