    Mark V 25w Mini Head

I'd love to see a comparison test between the Mark V 25 and Engl Ironball 20 (20/5/1 watt) head in the near future. I was about to buy an Engl Ironball 20 ($1,199) until this came out. In the past, I've owned more Mesa Boogie amps than any other brands. However, my current Engl Sovereign...

    Mark V 25w Mini Head

I have a Lone Star 1x12 open back cab by its lonesome. I wonder how the Black Shadow speaker would sound with a Mark V 25 head. Either way, I'm going to find out! :D

    Which speaker change for Maverick?

I have a 1x12 Maverick loaded with a Black Shadow speaker that just blows! When I play it through a 4x12 loaded with V30s, it just sounds great. The obvious answer seems to get a V30 for it. Any other speakers I should consider?

    Doug's Tubes evaluation

For me, the best Mesa overdriven tone derives from Maverick! IMO, 5:50 doesn't really come close. But, I'll try my best to learn to love it. :)

    Doug's Tubes evaluation

I put a pair of new GT 6L6 GE tubes and the tone improved somewhat.

    Doug's Tubes evaluation

I decided to basically use this amp as a ONE channel amp. For me, the blues/burn channel is downright unmusical in tone. I have a Turbo Rat pedal, and the 2nd channel sounds like a bad Rat tone. Otherwise, the whole package works for me. 50W for gigging, and 5w for practice at home as well...

    Doug's Tubes evaluation

So, I should first replace the V2 tube, right? I just put Tung-Sol in the V1 and V2 position, but don't hear much improvement. I really think it's the nature of Express circuitry that's just not working for me tone-wise. I'll give it another week before thinking about selling or trading to...

NAD: Mesa 5:50 2nd Channel Question

I just got a Mesa 5:50 1x12 combo. I love the 1st channel and it takes my pedals very well. But, the 2nd channel is practically useless to me. I can't seem to dial in the tone in either Blues or Burn setting. The only guitar that sounded great was with my 80's 48th St. Custom Tele loaded...
