I’ve spent hours and hours online trying to determine which will best suit my needs. I don’t have access to test live. I’m not playing out any more, but occasionally jamming with friends and home playing. I want Mesa because I want high-quality. I’m looking for a head to use with a 2x12 closed...
I have a TC 50 stock combo. I’m running a 2X12 closed back cab with two 16 ohm V30s, producing 8 ohms together (series?). I set the amp to 4 ohms when using the ext cab, giving me a three speaker set up. When I play the combo without the ext cab (rehearsals and home practice), the tone is very...
Hey all, I’m hoping somebody has a similar experience with this so I don’t have to completely disassemble my TC 50 combo amp… The amp makes a noise like tube rattle when I’m playing lower octave notes. It’s a relatively loud noise as I’m playing at about 90 dB and can hear it. At first I thought...
I'm really liking my TC combo. It's starting to sound even better with a couple preamp tube swaps. So far I've tried a Mullard 12ax7, GT 12at7 and a JJ 5751. I'm going to spend more time with some other tubes this weekend. Has anyone settled on other non-stock preamp tubes worth checking out...
NAD this week with a TC 50C coming in. I have a 212 closed back cab I’m going to use for gigs, as an extension to the combo and can load it with either 2 Vintage 30’s or a V30 and a G12H 30. Anyone try this combination before? Kind of splitting hairs here I guess, but it sounded good with the...
Hello all -
Can I connect an 8 ohm 212 cab (with two 16 ohm speakers) to the TC 50w Combo along WITH the 8 ohm stock speaker? Or do I need to disconnect the stock speaker and then connect the 212 cab? Many thanks!
Cool input, thanks much! I need to be able to dial in edgy, not entirely clean, blues tones as well as classic overdriven growl, ala Page, Montrose, Lifeson. I haven't checked out the Lonestar, but will now. What's the major consideration of that vs. Stiletto II?
Thanks for the input. I've played both back-to-back, but in the showroom. I can dial in the tones I like on both models. The Stiletto seems more versatile and responsive.....but at a much higher cost. I'm not sure it's worth it. How's the Stiletto been from a reliability/durability...
coin? Each seems to be a kickass amp and each has its pros and cons. So I'm just gonna flip on it....unless someone can give me some sage advice and sound guidance! Come on dudes, take the bait and help a brother out! Thanks!
Hey all! First time user and poster. I've never owned a Mesa. I've gone from Peavey (70's) to Marshall (80's & 90's) and finally to modeling amps. Well, I'm dumping my Line 6 Vetta rig and getting back to the real deal. Too many issues dealing with a freakin' "computer".
I play classic...
