I say it over and over...the Ace head fukin' rocks!
I've had a few offers for it but only one I considered a serious offer (had cash in hand).
I use a overdrive pedal (love pedal kanji 9) with it but never for boost, just on the clean channel for the odd old Rush tune.
I'm not sure what cocktail...
I love my Ace Head, Chan 2,Crunch, gain barely past noon, tube rec. through a 2x12.
I bought mine from you (Silverwulf) and never looked back!
My thinking was nothing would top my DC-5, I was way wrong.
I had a Nomad 100 head that did the same thing.
To make a long story short I ended up tightening the transformer ( and anything else that I thought might have needed it) put a little lock tight on the offending screws and the problem went away.
I'm talking about the screws that hold the...
From the recto and standard 4x12 a/b I did on my buddy Petes' cabs
I was instantly taken aback by the recto cab. The standard cab in no way sounds bad
I just like the sound of my stilleto head through the recto better.
I turned down the gain and bass slightly the went t town playing def leopard...
+2
I can get cool sounds from it at low volume, but it's way better in a jam situation, which is never really that loud...well ok maybe it is loud :D
I'm on my second set of these:

The first set didn't go "bad" or anything, I just put a lot of hours on them...

The specs you listed are for the Stiletto cab I'm thinking.
I've been losing sleep over the Recto 2x12 or 4x12 thing for quite some time now...
Yep, they work just fine.
Obviously you don't to keep playing once the power goes out. It's more to let you turn off your stuff not just have it get cut off.
Just like it was designed to do for a computer. To allow time for a "safe powerdown".
I have my Ace head and G-major plugged into my...
I have an M-9, it does have a SS power section, a good one. Yes, it has one 12AX7 in the preamp but it does not deliver the "tube sound".
If that's what your after get an all tube head.
I also have a 400+ ( and an M-2000 but that's neither here nor there)
I like the M-9 better than the 400+(and...
I like it a lot actually. More than the 400+ and the M-2000 I have had in the past.
I was on the fence with the M-6 but the M-9 had everything was looking for.
I was suprised with the tonal spectrum the rotary control has. I don't use the 10-band eq to much live, but it's a nice feature for...
I noticed the other day that the M9 Carbine pic on Mesa's site showed the rear without a direct out level knob.
So I took a pic of mine and poorly combined the pics to show that the M9 does indeed have a D.I Level knob.
the top is mesa's pic the bottom one is mine.
I've used my ACE head through a friends recto 4x12 (top cab) and the sound just killed everything else I have tried it with. I've been keeping my eyes open for a used one at a good price , but it looks like I'll just have to break down and buy a new one.
Short story.
I played a show last Sat.
M9 through 2 2x12's (SWR 12 packs).
My trusty Stingray 4 (HH) and Bongo 6 (HH) in habd (although not both at the same time...yet :D )
Opened with "No Remorse"......**** I love that amp, it kills my M2000.
