Played Triple Rec Pretty Loud with Load Mismatch... Question

Yes, you have it right, 16 Ohm from head output into cab's 8 Ohm input. I played it again last night and everything seemed to be ok. I played for about a half hour and no issues that I noticed. Thanks so much! To hear that someone else has done something similar eases my mind.

Played Triple Rec Pretty Loud with Load Mismatch... Question

Hey folks, did something pretty stupid, was moving some stuff around and when I plugged my head back into the cab, I plugged into the 8 Ohm jack on the back of the cab with the speaker cable from the amp plugged into the 16 Ohm side. Didn't realize it, played for about 10 minutes and I wasn't...

Have a Triple Rec, question on Rivera Rockcrusher

As an update, I went with the JDX. I like it. It doesn't 100% sound like my cab but it's not bad. Still want an attenuator / load boxes for late night recording. Has anyone messed with the THD Hotplate? It handles up to 185 watts but I've seen a couple reviews saying that it colors your tone...

Have a Triple Rec, question on Rivera Rockcrusher

I was going to. Totally expected to buy one and then I watched this review http://youtu.be/EGo9d2W7N-8 and I decided to look at other options. That's why I'm looking at the Rockcrusher...

Have a Triple Rec, question on Rivera Rockcrusher

Hi Folks, Looking for some advice... want to do more recording at home, I really want consistency between different recording sessions. I have a four year old and he loves my gear. I'm afraid to leave my SM57 out because I fear he would mess with it. Even though I don't expect he would break...

    Roadster Mods?

I went down this path, it can be painful... I was jamming with a buddy who has a Triple Rec and it just was so much more aggressive than the Roadster. I tried a bunch of setting tweaks, talked to the folks at Mesa. They said that the Roadster is slightly different and said it was that way on...

    "SOLO" Feature Amps

Seems like many manufacturers have two master volumes instead of the solo feature. They both get the job done. On my triple rec, it seems like the solo boost colors the tone a bit. Might just be me though.

MesaTriple Rec, Engl Fireball, Powerball II Sound Samples

Cool! Glad to hear you liked them. Did you like the Powerball better than the others through both cabs? Interestingly enough I like the Mesa best through the 4x12 and the Fireball the best through the 2x12.

MesaTriple Rec, Engl Fireball, Powerball II Sound Samples

Hope this is helpful to others out there. I have always wanted to hear comparisons between these amps holding their settings the same, same cab etc. I own a Mesa Triple Rectifier and an Engl Powerball II. I have a buddy who's selling his Engl Fireball (first gen) and he let me borrow it to take...

    Roadster Bias Mod

Thought I would follow up on this post. As luck would have it, John from Mansfield Guitars responded to my Facebook message a couple weeks ago. He is an incredibly cool guy. He said that the business just got to be a bit too much for him as he also has a full time job BUT he was kind enough...

    Roadster Bias Mod

So I haven't had to adjust an amp's bias in a while. I used to have a JSX and Peavey had a bias adjustment circuit in the amp along with test points. I think it was recommended that the amp should be at 35 miliamps for 6L6's. I haven't had that amp for over two years though. My...

    Roadster Bias Mod

So the 15K is the lowest value that they offer at Granger, I guess I'm better off making my own rather than buying one. I have a multi-meter which I've used to adjust bias on older amp's I've had. Both of them had test points for bias and an adjustment knob so they were much easier than what...

    Roadster Bias Mod

So I just reviewed the links you provided, and I think I'm reading this right but I'd like to be sure. I read on Mansfield's post that he: so based on the options on the Granger page, I'm choosing a 50K pot with the 15K resistor and leaving the 1 Ohm Bias Resistor option at '2' which is what...

    Roadster Bias Mod

Awesome! Thanks so much, I thought I had seen a Roadster thread before and when I searched this one didn't come up this time. I probably typed it wrong or something  So, just as an aside, I've tried messaging the Mansfield guy twice now on facebook because his site is gone and he hasn't...

    Roadster Bias Mod

Hey, been thinking about trying to do this bias mod in my Roadster. I can't find any amp techs in my area at all. The one guy I used to take my amps to retired at the end of last year and the place he worked at hasn't found anyone to replace him. A couple questions, I just went to the link...

No Master Volume after lightning strike - Roadster Head

OK, thought I'd follow up and report back about my Roadster. I ended up shipping the head back to Mesa. Turns out that there were 4 J175's, 1 6426M and one screen resister that burned out. Thankfully, I got it back from Mesa and it's back to it's perfect sounding self again. I really missed...

No Master Volume after lightning strike - Roadster Head

I changed 4 & 5. I did double check it again with another tube but no difference. When I change Rectifier from Diode to Tube the sound gets a little less crunchy as one would expect. Same for Bold to Spongy. No noticeable difference in volume though and no difference when it comes to the...

No Master Volume after lightning strike - Roadster Head

OK, a little more figured out... I had two preamp tubes that were bad. Now I have some sound back but it's not quite right still. Still no master or solo. When I turn up each individual channel masters, it gets kinda loud but not mind blowing 100 watts of power. It's just a little louder...

No Master Volume after lightning strike - Roadster Head

It was not in hard bypass, I replaced the V5 tube with another spare that I have and no difference. Any other thoughts?
