Rectifier Tolex (or is it Pleather?) Questions

Use a hot air gun and heat it up. The glue will melt and get sticky again. I had this on my old 2 channel heads. Just be careful and take your time. No need to remove anything. No idea about the price of those old cabs, but the most sought after cabs seem to be from the 2001-2003 era.

Capacitor on Powertube Socket - Mesa Mark III green stripe

Hi everyone, I recently acquired my first Mark Series amp, a Mark III green stripe long head that sound amazing! While cleaning all the socket and pots I found a little plastic bag attached to one of the cable inside the amp. Inside was a 250pf ceramic cap and a note saying "250pf 1kV cap...

Power Transformers in early Dual Rectifiers

Hi there, so I was reading the www.rectifierguide.com and saw, that the very early Rectos had different power transformers. They were changed form 561137 to 561140 somewhen in the transition from Rev F to Rev G. At one time I had the chance to have a Rev C and Rev G to compare and I did check...

Bias and Plate Voltage question for early Dual Rectifier

Hi, recently I have measured the Bias and Plate Voltage of my RevC Dual Rectifier and compared it to my RevG and the PV was quite low for the RevC. I used the same 6L6 Str420 code grey tubes in both amps. For the RevG I measured: Bold/SolidState: 453 volts and 23mA Bias Bold/TubeRec: 429 volts...

The 3 Channel Dual & Triple Rectifier Guide

Hi, just wanted to add some information. Found a 3 channel Dual Rec in Germany. It has all the cosmetics pointing to a Rev C: No "Loop Active" script and brackets above the OUTPUT and SOLO knobs "TM" trademark und Rectifier logo "Loop Bypass" script on the FX Loop is on the left of the SEND...

06 DR 3-Channel Solo Head Mods? FX Loop and Presence help!

Besides experimenting with preamp tubes, try some poweramp 6l6 tubes that bias hotter than the stock mesa tubes (there are tube stores that offer selected tubes for the DR) or try el34, with the fixed bias in the DR, they are on the hotter side from the beginning. Put an OD808 in front of the amp.

    NAD: Dual Recto R01xx

this are similar experiences I made with my pre-500. Or actually someone told me thats it's more about the orange channel than the red (although he set up the orange channel to variable high gain): "In case you don't know, there is a certain way you run these amps for the "Magic" tone. The...

    NAD: Dual Recto R01xx

thanks for the reply. this seems funny that you didn't like the rev F so much, as many people think they are the best DR to get with its usable clean channel. Everyone has a different taste. Would be interesting to know which changes were done between the rev F and G amps.

    NAD: Dual Recto R01xx

Hi, think I can chame in to share some thougths about the pre-500 topic. I'm a longtime lurker and the main reason why I don't post that much is that I'm no native english speaker. I mostly can confirm everything that was said about the tone of those amps. They are very percussive and...

Recto diamond plate: was it ever Chrome as standard?

You can use "Never Dull" for polishing. But be careful and tape everything that does not have to come in contact with it (tolex, chassis, middel pannel in the dimond plate) as it's very agressive.

I think I've bought the wrong amp help please!

Rectifiers are very well known for their sometimes fizzy sound, and there are a lot of threads dealing with this topic and how to tame this. The most important thing is, play the amp loud so that the power amp section has to work harder (rectifiers sound like **** at bedroom volumes). this...

    Early Dual Rectifier Question

What you have is a revision F recto. They go from serial 650 to about 2700 and are selling for a little bit more than regular revision G but not much. Currently there are to offers on Ebay and they pop up more often than the pre-500, at least here in Germany every month one or so...
