This works really well because the loop is effectively after master and you can get the gain structure without the volume. The power tubes won't be pushed that hard so it will be mostly pre-amp saturation.

Regarding the cable - yeah it is a Mesa part.

I has similar issues, including random channel switching. I replaced the cable ($30) - fixed it. Continuity is not the only issue - the contacts in the molded plugs get loose or crudded up.

BTW get some EL34s while you are at it. They sound great in the amp too.

The clean channel actually has decent reverb. It is channels 2 and 3 that have the reverb issues. Cleans are OK - Pushed cleans are fantastic. I like the clean on my 5:25 better. I modded my Nomad (FX loop capacitor) and the cleans are amazing, now. For reference...
