    God EQ tips

This one day I experimented with the eq of my single rectifier, and found out that if I maxed everything but gain and presence, I would get the best tone this amp could offer. I think gain and presence should be set to individual likings. But I tell you, the guitar comes alot more through the...

    Bias Mod for Single Rectifier

yeah and me too. Besides the bias mod, is there any other mod I/we should know about? :D

is diezel a lot better than mesa? absolutely not

too slow there... that's what happens when you don't come around this as often

is diezel a lot better than mesa? absolutely not

Yep, Germany or Austria or somewhere like that :)

is diezel a lot better than mesa? absolutely not

It's funny how prices get turned around over the Atlantic. In the states the price for a marshall is way up high, and a Mesa is somewhat cheaper. Well in Europe that is exactly the other way around. And also, a Diezel is about 10.000 DKR cheaper than a Road King. That's 1697$ cheaper.

is diezel a lot better than mesa? absolutely not

I think it has a pretty neat distortion. I don't fancy the clean, but that's because of the effects put on. But rather expensive. But I'd buy it if I could. In comparison of what my single rec. costs in DK, it is not that much more money for a Diezel, which has more features and a different...

Does my 5150 head have more distortion than my Triple recto?

Don't you think it is the opposite? The 5150 has 100 watts and the triple rect. has 150 watts? I would say the triple has more headroom, I mean, it just seems more plausible to me. Another thing, volume of amps, bold/spongy settings and such we don't know. I think it is a matter of setting the...

What do you think about this tube choice?

what kind of tube is SPAX-7A? I got this amp too, and yes it hums a little but I kind of like that. I use a Mullard reissue from Groove Tubes in V1 and a GT 12ay7 tube in V2. The rest is a ecc83 a sovtek and a 5751 tube for phase splitter. The mullard in V1 give a nice touch to it, and the...

    Series 1 vs. Series 2

Not sure about dual and triple recs, but with the single rec the difference between series 1 and series 2 is the extra mode on channel two (raw mode) and the bias switch for either EL34 or 6L6 tubes. Some say the series 1 is better than the other, but I don't know. Not nescessarily

    hot plate and dual rec

That might explain the flanging effect that I hear. I run a delay pedal through my loop. but if not, I don't have a clue why it sounds like that. Must be crossover distortion I guess. I like this thread :D

    hot plate and dual rec

I don't own a dual rec, but at least I own a single. I think the hot plate is good, but not that good that I can't live without it. I don't know, maybe it's the 6L6 tubes that doesn't break up as el34 does. One thing I noticed: When using the hot plate with 12db and 16 db settings and cranking...

Boutique hype & the real deal

I think a lot of the boutique hype has something to do with: "I got more money than you got. And I have a more expensive amp, so that makes me a better player". I don't know, the only boutique amp I might consider buying would be a Diezel vh4, but I still think it is way too expensive, and I...

    Vintage or Modern High Gain

That actually sounds like something I ought to try :D And if it doesn't work for me, then I'll have two kinds of distortion. Yay 8)

    Vintage or Modern High Gain

oh, about boosting the front end of the amp, I would like to ad a question or two if you don't mind? When you boost the front end, isn't just louder or does it change the sound in any way? I can't see the point in boosting if it only makes the amp louder but sounding the same? I am bit confused...

    Vintage or Modern High Gain

I use the vintage mode on my single rec. I find that it cleans up better, it is more dynamic, but when it is time to play Parabola (Tool, you know) I turn around and flip the switch. The Modern mode, I think, is better when tuning low.

    Argh, irritating channel fading...

yeah, that is a possibility I haven't thought of. It makes sense though, because I have some quite older preamp tubes, and some mullards reissues too. Have wanted to change the older ones in a while now, but here is my excuse :) But about the popping sound that only occurs the first time I...

    Argh, irritating channel fading...

I never really realised it before (when I used to play my single rectifier at low volume - shame on me), but when I switch channels there is a little volume drop and then it fades up. It really kills the dynamics of a song that builds up to something heavy. All master volumes are set the same...
