So ...after a whole lot of research on power/pre-amp tubes, I've found a combination that gives me the crunch I was after from my LS 1x12... I swapped out the stock Boogie pre-amp tubes for Electro Harmonix...and went from stock Boogie 6L6 power tubes to Svetlana "C" wing EL34's...HUGE...

I don't own a Blue Angel.,..but, I used to work in a music store in the late 90's..and I have to say i really liked the amp...crank it up, and voila!!...power amp distortion....sweet....I found a good combination to be a V-Twin pedal with the Blue Angel...you got some serious gain if you need...

I'm using Boogie EL34's....I think they are chinese??....they sound ok...I'm looking into Groove Tubes, or JJ....I'm hearing good things about the JJ's...I guess EL34's are not as reliable as the 6L6's, but I like the crunch I get from the el's much more...so I can live with the lack of...

I find that the EL34's do distort a little easier..and I also think they have little more top end "sizzle" to them...not as "bassy" as the 6L6 either....which I like as well...I mean it's a guitar amp ..not a bass amp..lol...besides..I'm not a 7 string , 1 finger chord , down stroker...

Hey Zakk...I really like the Lonestar....amazing clean tone, and killer reverb....nails the SRV tone......not real good at the Metal tone but that's ok...I play covers, so versatility is more important ..and this amp can get a lot of tones...if I need to kick it into the metal zone I use a Zakk...

Zakk...why would you dial in a blues tone from the "high gain" channel?? ...just wondering...I know what you're saying...but for my needs the amp was a 2 channel amp in a 3 channel package!!

I've got one of the first Lonestar 1x12's made..(serial# in the low 400's)..and I literally took it out of the box, and have been gigging with it every weekend since Sept./04.....not a problem....zero.....nada..... I do prefer the amp loaded with EL34's though...ya..I know personal taste...

I've run a Tonebone Hot British, but I found it was too much gain..too much for the red channel anyway.. ..I've also used a Tube Screamer TS-9 reissue, which I found to be not enough...too thin....what i'm using now is the MXR Zakk Wylde overdrive...I really like it...I use it in the red...
