Mesa Boogie Mark V in Europe [price inside]

UK store Andertons have the Mark V on their online store now. Their price is £2,249 for the head, £2399 for the 1x12. http://www.andertons.co.uk/Electric-Guitar-Amps/pid15440/cid557/Mesa-Boogie-Mark-V-Medium-Head.asp There have also been pretty major price increase for 2009 on Mesa/Boogies this...

My problem with the Mark V design

You can run EL34s in the outside. Or 4xEL34s I dunno, maybe wait for the manual to go online to see exactly what different configurations are available..

*never mind, I will need to figure out the configurations first*

    NAMM 2009 Thread

I wasnt expecting that, I thought by Vintage-High and Vintage-Low they were referring to their own gain sounds. Hmm, not sure if I am so stoked about the Electra-Dyne in that case...doesnt really seem 'necessary' in the line-up. But time will tell for sure, maybe its awesome :)

    NAMM 2009 Thread

I am curious about the Electra. I wonder what they mean exactly by Vintage Hi-gain. Does it mean Mark I sounds, or perhaps MKIIC+ sounds (lets face it, IIC+ is pretty much 'vintage' in terms of age) ? With 7x12AX7 on board, I would wager that thing goes FAR beyond vintage-ey MKI amounts of...

Pretty much. Since the Mark V won't fit on 1x12 theile, they have made a widebody 'version'.

    Mark 5 Review

Yes it did. The Nomad 100 with EQ certainly had those knobs to the right of the EQ. Extra toggle switches? I dunno, they might be there, but its just a smudge to my old eyes :) jpg compression of a low-res picture taken on a crappy camera doesnt exactly give a 100% accurate picture. So....it...

    Mark 5 Review

That picture is of a Nomad. Petrucci has used Nomads in the past (with talkboxes) so I don't see any reason to call it anything other than a Nomad. Everything about it is the same as a Nomad, knob layout, channel lights etc. The only small discrepancy is the 'Nomad' logo in the bottom right...

    Should I get a Hotplate

Yep, i'd agree 100% I have a hotplate, and I use it with some of my amps (the ones that only sound good at 11!), but only with maybe 4 or 8db attenuation. Which might sound like a lot, but isn't really. Basically, something like putting the master on 3'clock, but getting the loudness as though...

Mark V by end of this year

Definitely, I much prefer midi-capable switching.

    Mark IV Footswitch

It mounts to the shorthead, but the cable gets bent at an awkward angle. Its a real pity the cable can't be detatched.

price check on deuce II used

I paid $850 for my (now sold) Deuce I about a year ago. I think $1200 is a good price for a II, I would buy it if I was in the market. Actually, you don't see the IIs for sale much yet, so its hard to get a handle on the market price.

    Why 1991

'Before 1991' means before 1991, and after means after. If you can't follow that, I give up :? Lonestar does not offer crushing high-gain modern sounds, it is in the modern section because (!) it was released after 1991. Simple.

    Why 1991

It goes in the modern section, because it will have been released after 1991. I would have thought that was pretty obvious.

why does my racktifier pick up spanish radio???

A noise gate in the effects loop will get rid of the problem. When you stop playing, it cuts the feed to the poweramp, so basically nothing gets through, no buzz, no intereference, and hopefully no Spanish radio ;) I find some kind of noise solution is a must with almost any high-gain amp.

Switching channels on MarkIV using G-Major doesn't work.

Did you make sure that the Y-cable is the right kind? (ie it must have a stereo input, which then splits into a L and R mono cables) If you don't use the right cable , you will just be sending the same message to both channels and nothing will happen.

220V and Mesa amps in europe/Australia

http://www.mesaboogie.com/US/pricing/MesaPricing.htm It just says the usual crap about tax and shipping etc. But the fact that they put it up there shows that they've probably had plenty of emails asking why prices in other countries sucked so much
