    Generallux gold pins???

I realized afterward that the Genalex were preamp tubes anyway, so I whiffed it there from the get go. But yeah that makes more sense than what I said haha.

    Mark 3 noise and hum

A lot of Mark III's had the issue of severe volume loss between ch1 and ch2. I believe you can send the amp in to Mike and have a mod done where your reverb pot is turned into a ch2 pot, so you can independently control the volumes of the clean and crunch channels. This can't be done on short...

    Generallux gold pins???

I was talking about the power tubes though. Not the pre-amp tubes. I was under the impression the input in Marshalls went through the power tubes before the tone controls, whereas the input in Boogies went through the tonal controls before the power tubes. This was the basis of the "Marshall's...

    Generallux gold pins???

I read in another thread that Marshall amps have a much heavier influence in tone from the tubes than Boogies do. It's got something to do with the way the inputs are wired, I believe. I'm no expert, just relaying something I'm pretty sure I read. That being said, the tubes may not influence...

    What pro's use Dual Rectifier's?

I'd really rather not have Country music start featuring Marks as their amp of choice. Let's leave them where they are. Hahaha.

'08 Fender USA Strat w/ Gilmour EMG upgrade- MINT & AMAZING!

I've always been a Tele lover, and a Strat hater. I just had to get on this thread and say that that Strat is definitely sexy, good sir. Shame you're letting her go. Haha.

FS: Mesa Boogie Mark III, GEQ, Simul-class, Hardwood

That amp is really sweet, man. Why are you letting it go? :(

    Blues music suggestions

Awesome. Thanks, guys. I'm looking for new stuff to play along to and fiddle with, so I'm sure most of this will help, but keep 'em coming!

    Blues music suggestions

All righty, guys and gals. As per the title, what are your recommendations for blues artists? I'm looking to expand my collections and learn a few things, so I'd love some suggestions for music to check out. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, everyone!

Whats the deal w/ mark 3s?

I like the III a lot more than I like the other Marks. Just the R2 mod is the only thing I could ask for.

How do I get Metal tones from my Mark V

How loud are you playing the amp? And, try keeping your presence down. That should help give it a little darker sound and get that deepness you might be looking for. The Mark V should be fine on its own with metal tones.

    Sustain on Mark III?

Yeah, I've been playing with Class A lately. It sounds pretty sweet. I haven't had the chance to crank this thing because of my apartment, but I plan on doing so next time I practice with my band.

    Opinions on Nofx's guitarists?

I think Fat Mike can sing. I actually think a big part of their unique sound is Mike's vocal melodies. He's an interesting guy, considering he's all punk rock but listens to show tunes, Madonna, and weird stuff like that. That's off topic though haha. As for Hefe and Melvin, I don't know. It's...

    Opinions on Nofx's guitarists?

I'm not too sure if many of the people on this board listen to Nofx, but I'm sure we've all heard of them. I suppose my question here is what people think of the musicianship of Melvin and Hefe? Personally, I think they're pretty darn crafty, and they have a really tight sound and style. What do...

    Sustain on Mark III?

I've pretty much done all of the above, except I haven't changed the strings on this guitar in a long time. I also haven't played it through and through for a few years. I suppose a string change is in order. Thanks guys.

    Sustain on Mark III?

I've been doing some more tinkering with my Mark III, and I've got it to where there's a pretty decent sound for the music I play (essentially punk and blues). I'm just curious as to what I can do with my amp that would give me a tad bit more sustain and growl without muddying up the sound...

    Mark III Advice

Shoot, I know nothing about preamps, much less the tubes that would be best suited for each slot according to what I'm looking for. This sounds like a fantastic idea. Thank you. :)

    Mark III Advice

I was looking at dougstubes because it seems that's the consensus as to where to go to get quality product, and from what I'm reading here and on the website, I'll probably be going with the SED =C=. Since I'm totally new to tubes as a whole, should I go for the early, average, or late...

What album are you listening to?

*sigh* On another note: How about Nofx's "Wolves in Wolves' Clothing"? Great album, and the song of the same name is even crazier.
