    2x12 Half-Back

Here are links to page #2 and #3 of the thread on the EV 10” speakers. The thread is four pages with over 150 posts. It’s quite extensive. I found the most informative pages to be #2 and #3. I think the most extensive info is on page three but the posts at the end of page two are informative too...

    2x12 Half-Back

The 10” EV in the 4x10 is an EVM-10 (no “L”, no “M”). There’s an extensive thread about these 10” EV’s on the gearpage. (I’ll find the link and post it). It seems there’s been a few different iterations of it. From what I read the specs on the EVM-10M and the EVM-10 are the same. Supposedly...

    2x12 Half-Back

Doug the older Mesa 4x12’s had the “Boogie” logo plate. The newer had the “Mesa Boogie” logo plate. If memory serves me correct the “Boogie” logo plates were screwed on like the one in your pic. The “Mesa Boogie” logo plates were glued on. I’ve owned both the older and newer 4x12’s with their...

    2x12 Half-Back

Fwiw the indicator of an older vs newer metal grille half back cab is the handle. Earlier cabs had a handle that was sort of rectangular albeit with rounded edges. The handle was silver and black in color and had a “Mesa” label on it. The newer cabs had the all black round handle (which were way...

    2x12 Half-Back

Since we’ve slightly veered off the “black shadow” moniker :). I’ve also seen Celestion G12-65’s in the top half of a Mesa Metal Grille 4x12. Also the Celestion “Classic Lead 80” which from what I understand is pretty much the same as the C90 vs similarity to the Celestion G12-80. Supposedly...

    2x12 Half-Back

I’ve never seen a Celestion G12S-50 in a Mesa cab but have seen the G12-80 (which I believe was the precursor to the C90) in some Mesa vertical metal grille 4x12’s from the 80’s/ 90’s. I’ll have to check to be sure but Celestion made a G10S-50 which Mesa used. (Note: it’s a 10” speaker; saying...

    2x12 Half-Back

A vertical 2x12? Unfortunately probably not. I have one and could measure it up for the specs to make one but it’d be an expensive venture. I wouldn’t be able to reproduce the grill either.

    2x12 Half-Back

No intent to bust your chops here Doug, but it might be worth noting for all that “Black Shadow” is a Mesa “brand name” they used on other speakers too including EV12L’s. You’re likely referring to the Celestion C90 as that seems to have become the speaker most associated with “Black Shadow”...

    2x12 Half-Back

I’ve never seen a bottom (vertical metal grille) 2x12 cab before. That’s pretty cool.
