Road King Trip (cabs and stuff)

The Orange PPC412 in also one of the darkest sounding cabinets around. A Mesa Trad. size 4x12 would serve your amp better I think.

4x12 Recto Straight cab; Traditional vs Std (Oversized)???

Bought my slant Trad. new. Paid the 1150 after taxes or whatever it was. But I knew it would be a cab I'll keep for a long time. Its over 7 years old now and sounds better with age. Lot's of loud playing hours makes these cabs sound real sweet.

I use my Single a lot actually: Here are the rest:

Lead tone on Dual Rec with OD808?

IMO, a great lead tone is one that has less gain, more mids and with increased volume. That's what makes it cut through. Not increased gain, which adds compression and narrows the spectrum which then makes it get lost in the shuffle/mix.

Rectoverb and single rectifier discontinued disappointment

I use my Single 50 as a pedal platform amp and keep it set for a mild OD crunch tone. I would like am older 2-channel dual for more straight up brutal stuff, but I would still keep my Single.

Not boosting my dual rec anymore!

Although my Recto has more than enough gain, it is an unfocused gain. Wildly fizzy and sluggish. Even after numerous tube changes and pickup trials. But I love the base foundation of tone and feel of the amp. It's thick, organic & lively under my fingers. Sooooo...I now STACK a pedal ontop of...

Removing the knobs on my Dual Recto... help!

This is helpful because I want to replace my 3 chrome volume knobs with black ones.

Safe Impedance Mis-Match - Rectoverb Head

Yes it's safe. 8 ohm amp into 16 ohm cab works fine. I've even added an 8 ohm Mesa cab into the amps 4 ohm jack while running a 16 cab into the 8 jack.

    4x12 Recto Cabs

Good luck to you, but I'll never remove the back of my Stiletto 4x12. It sounds so good and I believe part of the reason is the tight seal it has.

    EL34s in 6L6 mode...

Alright thanks guys. It must have been 6L6's in EL34 mode that I read.

    EL34s in 6L6 mode...

...I thought I read this suggested before(?) What would be the risk/result if you did this? The EL34's will run a bit hotter correct? Thanks,

    overdrive for dual rec help

Try boosting the vintage mode. It's warmer and more natural sounding/feeling then the modern mode. I'm trying to get away from boosting my amps. I also hear and feel that "plasticy" thing too when boosting. I like the feel and attack better plugged straight in, without an OD pedal and the extra...

Mesa Rectifier Amps And Overdrive Pedals

I use a 808 for tight lows and sharp attack. I like my OCD for smooth, fat chunky rhythms.

High output volume is key. I mentioned this on the first page.

    Single Rectifier Volume Question

My Single Rec's output volume is always at halfway and I boost the modern mode with a TS type pedal too. Make sure your gain isn't past half when boosting it. That will result in lost clarity if it's too high. I also have my bass set between half and 3/4's for high volume playing. That's also...

Anyone find the smaller Rectos to be tighter when cranked?

I know that my Single sounds much tighter than my buddies Triple at full jam levels. More bite and cut too. I like to run two 8 ohm cabs with my Single at 4 ohms. It sounds great at loud volume.

Best 6l6 tubes for my rectoverb?

I like Mesa (Sovtek) 5881's in my Solo 50. Try those.
