There are (4) 12AX7 and (1) 12AT7 preamp tubes inside a .50Cal+.

Most likely a tube problem. If it is, taking them out and putting them back in will do absolutely nothing to help.

Find two Mesa/Boogie metal grill cabinets with EVM-12Ls. Take out any casters. Set them side by side with their feet planted on the ground. This is the only picture I have of any cabs side by side. Newer V30 and older EVM-12L

Here's my .50Cal+ road ready stack, Quad/295 double stack and Racktifier stack.

A very easy way to see the difference between the two would be by looking at the control panel, to the right of the GEQ. Wide has two rocker switches stacked between the Graphic EQ and large master volume knob known as Output Level. It has the brackets on the back to mount the FU-3 footswitch.
