    My LSS's smoke break.

I'm not an expert in carpet burning or smoking but will describe it as electrical fire. I have an RMA from Mesa and will send the chassis and tubes to factory even though they found a servicing option 80ish miles instead of 150 miles away. I figure the trip to Mesa should insure mean any...

    My LSS's smoke break.

Thanks for the suggestion. I think it was in 35 watt (it's a 2 x 12) mode. I almost always use it in 5 or 15 watt mode. To be honest my thoughts were unplugging it because I was surprised by how much smoke came out. Thanks again.

    My LSS's smoke break.

I'm bummed for a sunny day. Somebody was trying my LSS 2x12, we heard a hum, then smoke out the back! It doesn't even look like the fuse burned through. Further bummer is the closest "Repair Station" in the manual is 150 miles away in Chicago. It should be under warranty but that leaves the...

    LSS vs. LS Tone

I'll try to limit to the number of speakers because I got 2x12. I'm 2 miles from a shop that has often been very well stocked with all of the Lone Star and Express series. The 2x12 seems to make low volumes sound bigger and move more air at high volumes. I probably stayed away from Lone Star...

    Tried a LSS today.

I'll agree here. Much distortion is not my thing but I like channel 2 more than other amps or other amps and a pedal but it seems like you have to start your tweak with the treble up and bass back on channel 2. Next be aware of where you are with the drive settings when you do the treble and...

    Lone Star versus Express

I can't say anything bad about any of them. My local dealer is/was (retiring, going out of business) 2 miles from home and they have had all the Lone Star and Express variations in the past few years. My reference was owning the archetypes of clean (Fender Deluxe, Princeton Reverb) and not...

    2x12 volume and balance???

Hi, Should my two speakers be rather equal in tone? My right speaker is much louder than left. The left does vibrate but it has none of the mid and high frequency strength the other. They are indeed wired parallel and the one I'm describing as dull is the first that has the speaker to jack wire...

    LSS for Jazz

That's contrary to the manual (P.6) but I'll qualify it saying that while it states cleanest it also sates least saturated sounds. I was just photo copying parts of the manual and finding clean tone is what I'm working on. With 20 knobs and 10 switches I've still got a lot of learning to do...

Mesa LSS and Fender PRRI comparison (video)

I cut pieces of the wood shim used in carpentry, then wedged them between top of baffle board and the metal chassis above it. It's not perfect but fine for my home use. I think part of the buzz is/was the speaker tightened too much in manufacturing. Some have taken a small angled piece of...

LSS: Confusion & consensus over loop and bypass.

That's my understanding. I'm building (slowly) a 2 watt amp, got some books and that's how I understand it. Maybe I'll get that amp done if I don't spend too much time playing with the new Lonestar. Thanks again.

LSS: Confusion & consensus over loop and bypass.

OK, that nailed why I thought one would use the loop if they're not doing some sort of high level production. I'm a network engineer, not sound engineer so this is new to me. I rarely use pedals and it's with clean tone so I have not considered any change. So would I take same instrument...

Mesa LSS and Fender PRRI comparison (video)

I fixed the rattle via wedging wooden shim between the chassis and baffle board and re-seating the speaker. The PRRI is nice - like much there's individual taste but I think it is a wonderful sounding clean amp and my PRS Hollow Body sounds better with it than any amp I've tried. I did more...

    LSS for Jazz

My LSS sits next to my Fender and I find channel 1, dials close to noon, not too much gain and reverb on bright to be rather jazz or Fender-like. The reverb from warm to bright seems to get it more like the Fender black face in a hurry than tweaking other dials but I confess to being a reverb...

LSS: Confusion & consensus over loop and bypass.

Hi, I'm confused by the manual and other reading both suggesting using the Loop output to adjust final volume and also stating that the tubes and circuitry has a detrimental effect on tone. This amp is much more feature laden than anything I've had so I'm still learning. I don't hear any major...

Mesa LSS and Fender PRRI comparison (video)

Mine won't be near a Christmas tree (2x12 is sort of big) but this quick shot from camera phone should explain my interest in Jared's comparison and how it may have driven my purchase. The LSS matches the now dated 1980s southwest motif wall paper in the basement too. :)

    Lonestar Special 2x12 overkill?

25% off, whole store is 10 - 40% off of street, "MAP", regular prices prior to liquidating. The nice stuff is not yet at super deep discounts and is starting to go fast. I the doors will be open for another month. None of the brick and mortar Mesa dealers around here generally discount Mesa like...

    Lonestar Special 2x12 overkill?

Still sitting on the fence and wondering if I should take the current sale price or wait for the liquidation to continue. It's pretty obvious they're not exactly giving away decent product but I'm sure some prices will drop as it gets closer to shutting the doors. This would be among the good...

    Lonestar Special 2x12 overkill?

Thank you. I think you've supported my guess about two speakers making that big percussive tone even when it's at whisper volumes. Does it have effects loop like Express series and is there a way to use that and my looper to lay down chords and then play over with the second channel? Would an...

    Lonestar Special 2x12 overkill?

Hi, I suppose the Lonestar forum will have some bias, but here goes. I've become rather in love with the LSS 2x12 in local stock even though I was shopping for the Express 5:25 (they only have the 1x10). What struck me was how big and percussive it sounded at low volumes. There is the...
