    To re-cover or not?

Cool. I've shot them an e-mail. Thanks

    To re-cover or not?

£150 to get it re-covered (or $230). I suppose buying a shell from Mesa would solve that problem because I could keep the blue and silver one for if I ever wanted to change back. Do they do that though? Sell the empty cabs?

    To re-cover or not?

I have pretty much decided if I do anything it would be to get the amp re-covered to match the cab. I like the cab in black because it means I can use it with other amps and it sort of "fits", whereas having it in blue/silver like the amp would make it only fit with the Lonestar. Do you think...

    To re-cover or not?

Hey guys, I've been the proud owner of my Mesa Lonestar classic for around 2-3 years now and I see it as "an amp for life" that I'll never part with. Anyway, not long after owning it I picked up a 1x12 Lonestar extension cab on eBay for a lot cheaper than I expected, but it was cream and brown...

Lonestar Classic crackling - Need help troubleshooting

Okay, I might have been exaggerating slightly about it being 'wooly', but after 2 weeks of being without it and playing nothing but Marshalls channel 2 definitely sounds very mid-rangey and lacking in clarity. I'm sure it's no different to how it sounded before the new valves (minus crackling...

Lonestar Classic crackling - Need help troubleshooting

Hey everyone. I finally got my Lonestar back from my tech today, turns out it was just the power valves after all. He's also changed one of the preamp valves too as it was humming a bit. I've only had a chance to try it out for a few minutes so far but the crackling has definitely gone when I...

Lonestar Classic crackling - Need help troubleshooting

Yes the crackling is happening even when the guitar is unplugged, but only when the amp is "on"... not when it's on standby. I did mention that it was on both channels in my previous posts (twice in fact!).

Lonestar Classic crackling - Need help troubleshooting

So after going through all of the troubleshooting methods (including e-mailing back and forth with Mesa) I've finally given in and dropped it off with my tech today. I'll be sure to let you know what it turns out to be. Just out of curiosity Don & djw, how much roughly was it to get it fixed...

Lonestar Classic crackling - Need help troubleshooting

So, I thought I'd gotten this all sewn up... but today I discovered the amp is still crackling. At the moment I'm still using the "bad tubes" in the middle sockets, but I'm running it in 50w mode so it's only using the outer tubes. Even so, I discovered it's still crackling (although definitely...

Lonestar Classic crackling - Need help troubleshooting

Well... after some further experimentation it would seem I've answered my own question. I swapped the outer 2 power tubes with the inner 2 (as I've been running it in 50 watt mode which only uses the outer 2) and that way round there was no crackling. Swapped it back to confirm and the...

Lonestar Classic crackling - Need help troubleshooting

Hey guys, I've been recording a lot recently using my Lonestar classic but it seems to have developed a problem with crackling. I assume it's probably a tube needs replacing but I was wondering if anyone could help me diagnose what exactly it is. I've attached a short recording so you can...

    Lonestar Classic - 6L6's or EL34's?

After playing with it last night at a gig, I think I'll be sticking with running my LSC on EL34's all the time now. Now just to take the plunge and do the Reeder mod. I am slightly apprehensive about it, but it's easily reversible.

    Footswitch Drive Mod

Hi, I heard about modding the footswitch of the Lonestar so you can flip between the drive and clean modes on Ch2 but can't seem to find the thread that tells you how to do it. Can anyone tell me how it's done? (pictures too would be great!). Thanks

    Lonestar Classic - 6L6's or EL34's?

I've owned my Lonestar classic for around a year now and although I love it I've always felt the drive channel left a lot to be desired, often sounding muffled or too mid-rangey for a situation in which the guitar is the primary instrument (a standard rock band for example). I've always thought...

To mod or not to mod...?

At the moment, the tone that I'm liking is with Gain and Drive around 9:00, Treble 5:00 (all the way up), Mids 8:00, Bass 7:00 (all the way off) and Presence 5:00. The settings seem totally impractical! The tubes are the same ones as when I bought it so I think they may well be the culprit...

To mod or not to mod...?

Okay, so recently I've started using my Lonestar plugged into a Marshall 4x12 (inspired by seeing James Dean Bradfield of the Manic Street Preachers doing the same) and really liking the tone, however to get the tone I like on the Drive channel I'm having to set the treble and presence controls...

Just taken delivery of my Lonestar 1x12 Extension Cab

After months of being unable to get any navy blue bronco tolex for the re-covering I've had it done in black taurus. This way with the blue/silver combo sat on top of it it looks almost like a stand (but a stand that is a 1x12!). Got it back the other day:

where can I find mesa tolex?

"Tubesandmore.com" just got back to me. The tolex "S-G446" (navy blue bronco) is no longer available. The search continues!
