Is the modern mode on the rectifier amps just to boost the presence or does it actually add low end as well.

It seems like a nice unit regardless of what press it's had. I think in this attention deficit society of ours people want to plug and play right out of the box . I don't mind tweaking for hours if I can dial the good sounds. I wonder if these new impulse simulators would make this a bit more...
