New Found Love for Mesa Lonestar

The LSC is one of Mesa's classics IMHO - and been in production for some time, so a lot of users appreciate it's magic. Cleans are great, but for me this thing shines at edge of break-up and light crunch. Turn down bass, accentuate mids / trebble, and it sings like a banshee. LIkes good boost...

Mesa 5 band graphic eq pedal and the lonestar

Thanks for the advice LoLands. I bought a Mesa 5 band EQ and am trying it in my amps. I see exactly what you mean by tightening up the bass response with the 240 slider on the Lonestar. A clearer, tighter bottom end which responds well to pick attack. No longer boomy or flubby when gain is past...

TC-100.......I knew I should have waited!!

I'm almost certainly in for a TC100 when they hit the UK. Been sitting on the TC 50 fence for a few months now, but the spec on this one has done it for me As others have said elsewhere, a TC and Dyne are probably an ideal Mesa duo for what I need. I may well sell the Lonestar, which is a bit...

    LoneStar Classic Settings

I'm on the same page regarding drive on CH2. Gain at 2 pm, drive at noon with HB's, a bit higher with a strat I would add that keeping bass around 8:30, mids just above noon and chanel master at noon opens my LSC up to produce a crisp, ringing drive tone without mud or bass boom 8)

Radio noise in my new/used Lonestar Special

Speaker cable? I used to have this issue, mainly with my MKV head through a 4x12, but sometimes my other amps also. Got the highest grade, shortest Monster cable I could find and haven't had an issue since May be worth connecting the Supro speaker with a good speaker cable and see if that...

RA100 still on my top list

Do it Bandit. IMO, a stellar amp that is under-appreciated. Excellent tone from a simple layout, and loves =C='s. I tried EL34's, but went back to 6L6's for a fuller mid response that balances things out beautifully Find a good one, and you won't pay over the odds for it. Brilliant amp for the...

Mark V owner review of JP-2C (multi page post)

Thanks for the detailed posts Bandit - appreciate you trying to explore if the 2C would suit my needs. I'll hold off buying 'till I can try, but it doesn't sound like it would displace any of my current arsenal

Mark V owner review of JP-2C (multi page post)

From what you have said here, selling the V seems the more likely outcome I had one for 5 years, which I kept because it had excellent low volume response in Tweed mode. I felt I couldn't let it go earlier, which was just me being sentimental about an amp I wanted desperately to bond with...

    Mesa JP-2C Review

This is definately on my list of amps to try out. Low level / studio volumes are important to me, as is the nature and feel of the break-up as the amp flips into OD Does this amp do the edge of break-up thing naturally? Hard to describe, but do CH 2 and 3 do the crushed glass response without...
