    Retubed MKV90 - 34's back to 6L6's

Only time I used EL34s was when I was in a band with another guitarist. It seemed to sit in the mix better between the two. I'm the only guitar this time around and I like the 6L6s. To me, the latter is more 3 dimensional sounding filling more space, so to speak. Enjoy!!

    Mark V intermittent Noise issue

The last problem I had with mine turned out to be the last thing I checked/changed/swapped, the cable from my tuner to the amp.

212 recto cab V30 speaker mix

I liked my stock C90 for cleans. I use to run a V30 and a C90 in two separate 1x12s for a while.

    Welcome to the party!! :D

New Member of the Mesa Mark V 90 watt club!

Congrats!! Fellow tweaker here as well and this is definitely the amp to have for that affliction...haha. With that said, after going through a few EHX, Mullards, JJ's, and Tungsols, I've settled on the Mesa branded pre-amp tubes. I might experiment again someday though, but I'm close enough to...

    Mark V fuse problem

Yeah...bad tube unfortunately. Be careful with new fuses too. I got one of the AllParts fuses and it never seated properly. I seem to recall it was too small. It made the amp cut out intermittently.

    Older Mark V 90w vs New Mark V 90w

Mine was built mid-2009. So it's almost 11 years old. During that time, I have had a couple of relays replaced and the power section "updated" by Mesa under warranty. This is my main rig. For $500 extra, using hindsight as my guide, it is way worth it to have the transferred warranty just in case.

Why are my graphic EQ sliders crooked? And is it something I should be concerned with?

That's odd, I've never seen that on here before. I checked mine and they're not tilted nor is there any play for them to do so. Maybe someone tried to lift it by the sliders and that's the end result. Adds character though :D

    What's under the tolex?

Ah ok...I guess somehow I was hoping for a peeling carpet off and finding a nice hardwood floor in a older Craftsman style house that could be refinished experience. I suppose I should just keep playing the amp instead of messing with aesthetics! Boredom of staying-at-home and not...

    What's under the tolex?

Dumb question, but what's under the tolex? I thought I saw somewhere that it was birch. I'm getting bored with the "Black Taurus" and thought about stripping it and finishing off the wood. Hmm...maybe I could just try and build a head shell and go that route instead. Anyhow, if ya know and have...

Yea... That Virus causing us to stay at home...

We were suppose to have a gig last Saturday night, so yeah, playing by myself stinks but it's for the greater good and all. I did save $53.43 not gigging though...hahaha!! ;)

Whats the deal with EL34 class tubes in the V

"NOTE: When using the BIAS SELECT switch on the Rear Panel to accommodate the use of EL34 Power Tubes, ALWAYS switch to VARIAC POWER (switch down) on the main Front Panel POWER switch and operate the amplifier in this power mode until swapping back to 6L6 Power Tubes. This will ensure...

Mark V Clean Channel Cutting Out - Help!

Cool! Glad to see the fix worked for you too!!

Mark V intermittent power and lights loss

Weird indeed... Have you tried different receptacles and circuits in the house? At the rehearsal studio, I found an outlet that would make my amp just cut out until I re-seated the plug. It turned out to be loose wiring.

    Reverb not working

Sometime ago I was getting this same high pitched squeal along with a hum that would get louder and louder in time. I have a four port input jack on my pedal board and using pancake connectors would create a connection between the four. I found that it was this "four port connection" creating...

    Reverb not working

I crossed up the wires once on the reverb tank and that made the reverb inoperable. Now, I don't use the amp reverb (I got a Boss RV-500 for that) so I pulled the wires and tank out of the shell.

Lack of Low-end on channel 3?

Take a look at this thread as well: http://forum.grailtone.com/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=85167 I haven't tried yet myself, but it might be up your alley.

Lack of Low-end on channel 3?

Wow man...sorry ya feel like that...I just can't believe something until I try myself I guess... Anyhow, I tried sticking an EQ in the loop (which I have never done before tonight) and believe it or not, I can come really close to a recto sound with Ch2 in MarkI mode. It's not as loose nor as...

Lack of Low-end on channel 3?

Well crap, I bought a recto series amp for nothing...hehe!! Please send me your MarkV settings and post up a recording of them where you get that recto sound. I'm curious to know! No matter much I've tweaked my MarkV, there's no way I can get it to sound like my Roadster...if I can though...
