    Single Recto V2 question

The 2nd version of the Single Recto shouldn't have a lag when switching channels. I've owned both versions and remember the 1st version being almost unusable because of this. Are you sure you have a version 2? Version 2's have a switch on the back to select between 6L6 or EL34 tubes. The...

Where to get Mesa OEM tolex and grill cloth?

I always liked Mojotone for tolex. Not sure if it's exactly the same as what Mesa uses, but it looks the same to me. https://www.mojotone.com/Cabinets_x/TolexCarpetTweed_x/Mojotone-Wine-Taurus-Buggy-Whip-Tolex-54-W

    Is boosting a Recto overrated?

Update to my first post. The original band I'm in had an opening slot last week for a somewhat popular early 90's metal band. We played our C tuning set, as it's our heaviest material (Think Maiden, Priest, Queensryche, NWOBHM, but in C tuning). During soundcheck, I was turning on and off a...

    3 Boogie lineup

Welcome to the forum. 8) I think any of those 3 would suit your needs. I have played all 3, though it's been a long time since I've seen a Mark iv. While I prefer the 5:50 Express Plus due to the graphic eq, putting a graphic eq in the loop of the non + would be almost same. It would also be...

    Is boosting a Recto overrated?

Had a gig last Sat night at a local club. Two sets, mixing covers with hard rock/metal originals. My live rig consists of a Multi-Watt Dual Rectifier pushing a 4-12 loaded with Eminence v-12's (They are the 16 ohm Krank versions), using only a delay in the loop for solos. No other effects...

Reborn Dual Recs - Less gain on tap than the originals?

Welcome to the forum. I don't post a lot myself, but am always here reading. I own both a Reborn Dual and a Reborn Triple Rectifier. They are some of the best sounding amps on the planet. I use the Dual for gigging and the Triple with EL34's for recording. My ears tell me that the new...

Really digging my Electra Dyne lately.

Agree that the Electra Dyne is a great amp for many styles, but just needs a little extra gain for metal. I've been using various boosts (TS9, Boss SD1, Green Monkey) and they all sound good, but all sound a little different. Grid slammer sounds like a great match. I might have to grab one...

    Mesa Boogie Triaxis discounted...

Really hoping they have a replacement for the Triaxis. Been thinking of building a rack rig and the Triaxis was at the top of my list.

    JP2C and Sykes Tone

Awesome freaking tone. I love my Multiwatt Recto and Electradyne... but that JP2C is seriously good (and your playing only makes it better).

Nomad Channel 3 Mod to clone or emulate Channel 2 ?

I have owned a Nomad 55, and still own a Nomad 100. Channel 2 & 3 are very different to my ears. Channel 3 is an all out monster for gain and sustain, while channel 2 always sounded (and felt) more subdued. While you can get close with the right settings, I don't think it's possible to get...

    Verdict on Electra Dyne

Have to agree with the above. While I do like the ED stock, it does become a different amp with a boost in front. Using a Bad Monkey with my ED, I can get a very convincing Bogner Ecstasy type sound.

    Nomad Switching Questions

I don't post here that often, but thought I could help you with some of these questions. I currently own a Nomad 100 1-12" combo, DC-5 version B, Multiwatt Dual Rect and an Electradyne combo. No delay, pops or dropouts on my Nomad 100. I could not deal with an amp that had these issues. When...

    Help me choice - .50+ or DC-5...

I've played both and prefer the DC-5. Seemed to have a tighter sound and was overall more versatile. Actually, I still own a DC-5b and gig with it on occasion. Just a great sounding amp.

    8 strings and dual recto

Haven't tried an 8 string, but have tried a 7 string. Sounded killer, big, chunky. Only thing that you might want to add is some type of boost pedal to tighten up the low end a little. Not to add distortion, just use it to tighten things up.

New Mesa Amp Advice Needed..........Super long post, sorry!!

Great post. I actually like that it's long and involved, as it doesn't leave many questions to be asked. My pick would be the Express 5:50. Lightweight, plenty loud for gigging (which the 5:25 is not). Lower cost than the Roadster or Mark V. Perfect rig for a cover band would be a 5:50 1-12"...

Mark V Ch3 Metal tone video

I usually hang out in the "Recto" section of the Forum, but occasionally head over to see what you Mark V guys are up to. Well, THAT IS ONE HELL OF A METAL TONE. Thick, crunchy, while also having a smoothness with great definition. I think I need to add a Mark V to my Mesa collection. :)

    Single Rectifier Volume Question

They do breakup at loud volumes, but I don't think he's running into this situation. He's using a 50 watt head into a a 4-12 cab loaded with these, thus making it a 300 watt cab. He would need more power to be getting speaker distortion.

    Single Rectifier Volume Question

Agreed that the amp and speakers are working against him. He didn't mention what speakers, but I agree that they are most likely the standard 75 watt Celestions in his 1960A cab. Still, the added 50 watts of a 100 watt amp can overcome any speaker with a low db rating. Also, even at lower...

    Single Rectifier Volume Question

I think the above statement is really what's going on. I think you need more wattage, as in a 100 watter. I used a rectoverb for some old shool metal a couple years ago. The amp sounded great, until I got up on the volume. At halfway up, the sound went away. Too flubby and un-defined. My heavy...
