    Mesa Boogie Mark V and Telecaster sound awful?

    Oh man, this has me worried. I've owned a Mark V since they were released, and I just ordered an American Special Telecaster in hopes that was a bit more versatile than my JPX for the Top 40 thing. It arrives tomorrow. Hopefully someone out there owns a Tele and can chime in.

    Anyone Stopped fighting an amp with the Mark V?

    I came from an ENGL Savage 120, which is the most versatile amp I've ever seen. The only problem with it is that even with 3 dirty channels, you can't escape the "ENGL sound." There was also something missing, in terms of feel, with the ENGL. It was surprising how much more "connected" i felt...

    Mark V vs. Road King II

    If you play such a wide range of music, I think you'd be happier with a Mark V. The Mark V's 2nd channel is brilliant, and reminds me a lot of Halen's "brown sound," whereas the 2nd channel on the Recto never did anything for me (I had the 3 channel version).

    Anyone using an OD with their MV?

    One thing I like about the Mark V is that it doesn't ever "require" an OD, unlike the Triple Rectifier I used to own. You can dial in some pretty brutal sounds with the amp alone. I did try the TS9 in front of the Mark V though, just to see how it worked out. It made the highs unbearable...
