    Discovered April Wine ... Wow

I was bumping thru some vids on YT. Found Gypsy Queen. A cool tune. Then found Roller and a bunch of other cool tunes. The guitar sound was quite modern really. Aside of a little boost, they had a great smoking crunchy tone. Anybody else dig April Wine? I also like Kix. Some of those...

    sorted nothing to see here

Lower left when facing the front is where mine is. It is just a typical fan, nothing special. It is used as a common cooling fan in electrical gear. I have them at work, and laughed when I saw it! I have no idea if it was moved from the original location.

Who is still feeling the love for their Roadking?

I dig a good clean. And of course the Mark series hair metal. And then the heavy Soundgarden and AIC riff heavy chug. It seems the RK is the best thing in the current Mesa lineup for that. Earlier this week I saw Dannyeo post a Stilletto pulling off some great Marshall tones. The RK has a...

Best blues to 90's metal/rock speaker for IIC+?

I am pulling the chassis out of my IIC an sending it to Mike to make it a + and give it a good going over. I am looking for a good bluesy hard rock early metal speaker. I will probably be adding another 1x12 cab to it. So the end game will be one 12 in the combo and one in the extension cab...

    Mix tubes in Mk 2c

My newly bought 2C has the BB pair matched and 2 diff EL34 on the outside AA slots. Does anyone have a pair of -C- 6L6 tubes in the inner and pair of stock Mesa EL34's on outside? Boogie tech svcs said the 6L6 was optimal outside and not the EL34's as I bought the amp. I'm just going to...

Zinky amp users/owners?? I picked up one this weekend

I test drove this little blue velvet pimp looking amp at the strong suggesting of a friend of mine working at GC. Being in the market for a sweet litte practice/grab-n-go amp, I tried it. First - I am not a blue crushed velvet kinda guy. After getting past that, it was a sweet little amp...

The overused and redefined word "Tone" what is it to you?

Heard lots of interesting uses of the word tone. Most are far from a music school dictionary defenition of semi-tones, half step, whole step type of things. Lots of equipment manufacturers are selling 'the tone'. When some marketing douche bag gets involved things usually go to hell. I am...

Dennis Hopper dies of prostate cancer

I will miss his contributions to this world. Great actor, narrator, interesting political commentary, rebel with a few causes. He had a command of his body in such a total way that he could express his emotion or message in word, expression, action.... That was a man. I would have enjoyed a...

Suhr - one for rock/metal - and your satisfaction with?

I have heard nothing but love flowing and glowing over Suhr guitars. Have not seen one used in any Atlanta GC or other few stores in a year. Lots of great players, playing thru great amps, great cabs on YT. They should sound good given that situation. Who has one and what do you think of...

    New Amp Weekend!!

Bonus finally came in. Time to buy some things I want, not responsible adult purchases. Added to the amp family. Rivera Knucklehead Tre - Pretty new offering from Rivera. Sounds like a cross between the Lucky 13 and a Triple Rec. You have to hear one in a good 4x12 to get the effect of...

If you had 2500 for a good metal/rock amp, not boogie, what?

I have a MKV and Rectifier. Looking for another solid Metal/Rock amp. I like the SLO 100. Have not ruled out another Boogie but there are no new ones I am jonesing for. Have not been a big fan of stock Marshalls. Prefer the modded Marshall vibe from other manufacturers. What are some...

Soldono users/owners - most basic model to get the SLO tone?

Guitar Center Atlanta has one SLO100 modded used, two tone mods and a depth knob. Just had to plug it up for few. Half Stack. First drive with the SLO. Great amp with good tight depth. $2999 for the rig is $$$ but it was the RATT sound era exactly. Loud it sounded great, only played it...

    Any Boogafunk Cab users?

Anybody using/heard a Boogafunk cab? How long have you had it, what speakers, business experience with the company? I am looking at the $140 per cab Thiele (2). 1 cab for MKV, 1 cab for Rectifier. I would imagine different speakers for each enclosure.

Anyone signed up for King of the Blues -contest experiences?

Friend at Guitar Center asked me to consider signing up. Seems like a way way over my head thing. No doubt about it.... Could be a good experience and would definitely make me practice alot, I mean alot..... Anyone ever get in a guitar playing contest? Good or Bad experiences? Seen the...

Played an Express 5:25 for an hour or so - impressive runt

I went in to Guitar Center today to try out an MM Axis guitar (great blues guitar btw). Played a Roadster thru 4x12 for a while. Sweet, what else can you say... Some guy was there waiting to play it, wanting to buy it, so I moved over to the tiny little Express 1x10. The Express really...

Les Paul - MKV - CH2 MK1 mode - "Awesome" is used correctly.

I found a good deal yesterday on a Les Paul, a used one someone customized the way I wanted. This baby had SD Pearly Gates at the Bridge and a Jazz at the neck, Sperzel locking tuners, burgundy top. It played well and I was happy to find a well built one with good action. I like the idea of...

Bugera = Axe FX ?? Stealing a tone is still stealing

Lots of action on the Bugera outright copys of major amp manufacturers. Patent infringements!!! How is Axe FX different from Bugera. Both are designed to sound like someone else's product. Axe Fx says the tone is not protected. But maybe it should be. Axe Fx is a piece of gear built on...

    Latest Carvin Guitar Build Quality

These guitars look like Megan Fox and Katherine Heigel in hot love scene, with each other.... I have never found a relatively new Carvin of any stripe to play. Gibson has lost favor with me lately. Played at least a dozen in the last 2 months. PRS is good, but I don't want to dismiss...

Focusing back on riffing to play better leads

My excellent guitar instructor, won Guitar Center "Guitarmageddon" three consectuive years, is getting me to focus a bit more on chording and riffing to lead improvise with a larger vocabulary. GREAT idea (also posted here by others). I have been working a tune - "Lately" by Day of Fire...
