    I love my lonestar!

Yep, 3 years later I still love her dearly. Probably more so than when I first got it. This amp will be staying with me for life.

    Strat guys & blueshawks?

Just want to hear any opinions on blueshawks all you strat lovers have? I've had a few strats, I love the tones! But I always end up getting rid of, I don't know why, maybe it's the smaller radius fretboards. I'm forever knocking the pickup selector and volume knob, there too **** close to the...

get the mud out LS mod

I'm not the right person to answer your question Tom but I just used an ordinary ceramic disc type cap, I don't know what voltage rating they are but I think it's fairly high. It's wasn't even 250pf, I think it was 270 or 230 I can't remember now. Anyway everything works well and sounds awesome!

get the mud out LS mod

I've tried all the mods on here for my LSC, This is by far the most effective one for removing the mud! It's works well, with drive about 12oclock it's like adding a bright switch. I'm so in love with my boogie right now! Thanks jamme61, great mod!

    Documenting my rig

I had a hard time with grill cloth also, After I changed mine I came up with an idea I wish I tried. It's only a theory but I think if you were to soak the cloth in water for a few hours then staple it on it will become tight when it dries out. It's an old joiners trick for putting hardboard on...

    Custom Lonestar Combos

I thought the Classic v.2 looked dull compared to the rest of the Lonestar range so I did this...

    Burnt something inside my LSC

I'm not sure either but I'm interested to here what the tech/Mesa says! Hope you get it sorted with no hassle!

    Burnt something inside my LSC

By far left socket you mean the 8ohm? Mesa boogie states in the manual that plugging a 16 ohm cab in the 8 ohm output is a "safe mismatch" I have a 16 ohm 2x12 cab which I plug into the 8 ohm and plug the combos speakers into the 4 ohm, I thought I smelt burning also but everything works fine...

    Lonestar bias mod

Thanks ja22y! Done the mod, took the voltage, did the maths. 50 & 100 watt modes there is little difference, I'm reading 419 volts and biased to 45mA which has got me round the 65% or 19.5w mark. It turnes out I'm very cold with the valve rectifer on, 376 volts and 24mA! I should be getting...

    Lonestar bias mod

Thanks ja22y, Im still somewhat unsure about reading plate voltage and current etc. I just worked out the huge drop was due to the rectifer comming on in 50w mode, I switched to diodes and now the difference between modes is only a couple of mA. Still though does this mean the valves will run...

    Lonestar bias mod

Hi everyone, Ive had my mod kit laying arround for a while and finally got round to installing it (well nearly) I got me a multimeter and bias prob and decided to take a reading before doing the mod. All 4 valves are reading arround 27mA when in 100w mode but drop all the way down to arround...

    Converting a LSC 212 to a 112.

Hi Paul I came across this while surfing. Looks very interesting!!! http://www.boogieauctions.com/mesa-boogie-lonestar-2-tone-tubby-10-custom-must-2/

Has anyone ever used a treble booster with the Lonestar??

I couldnt do without my Rothwell Atomic Booster! can use it as a clean boost or you can filter out bass frequences at the same time, I think I'm the only person on here that uses it (they'll never know how good it is)!! HAHAHAHAHA :D

    Lonestar bias mod

OK, Ive been told that most mesa amps with power switching switch in a cathode resistor to control bias in low wattage modes but still use fixed bias in high wattage modes. If that is the case then bias will not be adjustable in 10 watt mode but fully adjustable in 50&100 watt mode. I just...

    Lonestar bias mod

Very interesting! Thanks for sharing this mod, Will the components used work with UK amps with higher voltage? Also what about the v.2 with the 10watt/class A switch, will running at 60-70% have the same effect on class A operation? Great mod!!! :D

    after market...

An eq in the loop gives you loads of tone controll, simple. Wont really change the voice of your amp like a speaker will though, depends what your after really. I was close to changing my speakers but decided against it in the end as right now Im happy where I am with my tone.
