I'm surprised more ED owners don't mention mini-humbuckers with this amp.
I have a pair of Jason Lollar minis in my Firebird V and they are a perfect combination.
Warm bell tones on clean setting, awesome crunch in Lo and Hi....no bass-y woofyness
that some complain about.
Cheap *** Digitech Bad Monkey for boost.
On my 2nd one, traded it for a lunch at the pub
(2 pints/Nachos).
I like it....doesn't "colour" the tone of the amp.
Good thread idea.
I have a 23" 1x12 combo. Love it !
I have no issues with any settings I use, in any mode.
I've had 3 versions of the ED...2x12, head, and now my 1x12.
Done some tube rolling...EL34s didn't really do it for me.
Running a mix of TungSol preamps along with stock Boogie...

Had both amps for 3 months at the same time....I plugged into the ED at least 3/4 of my
playing time. The Mark V is a GREAT amp, but my ED still does it for me. Sold the MV.
Hey chiknpikr. Welcome 8)
You ain't gonna like it....you'll love it man.
I've owned blonde and blackface bassmans, early Marshall 100w Superbass and JCM 800's....all played thru early and late
blackback and greenback loaded cabs. I downsized a while ago and have an Electradyne 1x12 combo...
I've owned a 2x12 combo with V30s, a head (thru my 4x12 Marshall cab with greenbacks) and finally settled on a 1x12 combo.
The cleans are awesome, so is the reverb.
You won't find many amps that take pedals as well as this one....IMO.
I put wet pedals in the loop, any OD pedals out front.
I...
I've posted this before. Jason Lollar mini humbuckers are THE best accompaniment to the ED....IMO.
Yes, they can go dark, but man, in blue mode, it gets great jangle to clear concise grind. Cleans to die
for. No pedals.
Moved to a smaller place...less interior real estate
I traded the head for a 23" combo with a Boogie Board brother who
was looking to trade the other way with his combo.
Lovin' the combo with the MC90 as much as the 4x12 !
