Pictures of my Nomad 55 and other gear:

Yeah me too, I've had nothing but lots of awsome tones from my Nomad and I'm glad it sounds like a Nomad and not a recto or anything else. Go well. 8)

    Nomad 55 2 x 12 Combos - less than 1000 made.

Yeah understandable. Mine was 3 years old when I bought it brand new. The importers here in New Zealand dropped the price heaps (NZ$3800 to NZ$2500) when MB ceased production - and I swooped on it. Hell it was cheaper than the marshall DSL and TSL 50W 1 x 12 combos! and a lot more amp to boot...

    Nomad 55 2 x 12 Combos - less than 1000 made.

For the FOR YOUR INFORMATION file. I contacted MB about this, they couldn't give me an exact figure but up into the high 900's 2 x 12 combos were made. Makes it a rare-ish amp chaps 8)

    Ageing a Nomad Amp.

Haha not quite clear was it. Ah - no I'm not in to relicing I am trying to find out when my amp was made by using the serial number or whatever. Thought there might be a system to it, like Fender guitar serial numbers. Quess I'll contact Mesa direct. Thanks.

How Many Nomad 55's were ever made.

I am really keen to find out how many Nomad 55 2X12 combos were made before they were discontinued. Does anyone know? Or know how to find out? Thanx

An attenuator can make a big difference. Just search the threads to read all about it.

    Attenuator!!!

Basically you have to remember 2 things with a power soak (attenuator): 1) It WILL suck some tone if you play at low volumes with it 2) There is no substitution for moving cones If you acknowledge these things and accept the minor setback then you will be extremely happy with your...

Do the Nomads have the rectifier distortion?

In my experience, Nomads (I have a 55 2X12 combo) have there own hi gain sound which is not quite as gnarly as the recto's, but a truely awesome balls to the wall tone anyway. You also end up with a shed load of of other amazing distorted tones plus one of the most beautiful, and controlable...

    Help with big decision- amps........

Don't overlook the Nomad 55's and 100's (particularly 2x12 or 4x10's)they really cover the field and at a **** fine price too. They aren't that complicated (as is sometimes implied) and have a unique sound for each of the three channels even though each channel is covering familiar sonic territory.

    Nomad 55,s and hotplates.

    Nomad 55,s and hotplates.

Just loud enough to work the output valves and tranny a bit. Having the MV turned down so low or using the headphones gives you about half that sweet valve sound,

    Nomad 55,s and hotplates.

The old problem practising at home without deafening the kids, goldfish having the wife leave and noise control paying a visit. Hot plates seem a likely (if expensive) answer. What are other peoples experience with them with this sort of set up? Is there another way?
