    Mesa 20/20 Deep Mod

The cap doesn't add bass response, it removes bass response, a lot or a little. removing it entirely will give the most bass response. But having some kind of cap in there will basically flow more electricity through the circuit and minimize signal drop that some have experienced by removing...

    Mesa 20/20 Deep Mod

Does anyone here know, after doing the bass mod, I'd like to add a little mid back in with an EQ. What frequencies should I boost to kind of bring back some of the 20/20's original character?

mesa boogie 20/20 -> annoying fan noise :(

Got the stock fan from mesa. It was really not any quieter, but at least not broken like the last one. However, I did manage to make the 20/20 fan substantially quieter by using velcro to fasten it inside the 20/20 instead of the screws. its quite secure and monumentally quieter. Its not...

    What to replace 20/20

hahaha good one. I ahve already wasted almost $100 chasing after that. The first fan I got was the quietest one I could find per spec. It was not quieter than the original and it introduced noise in the signal somehow. Then I called MB and ordered a replacement part. The one they sent me...

    What to replace 20/20

the mini rectifier is probably not quite enough power, but its a tempting idea because of the EL84 dyna-watt power. I will look at the single rectifier also. well as soon as I get into that price range there are a lot of interesting heads out there, but I'm just not sure which ones will...

    New Mesa/Boogie Rack Product Ideas

Check out the Radial JDX. It sounds AWESOME! I'm not sure MB really needs to duplicate what the Palmer or JDX do, but it would be cool if they built that kind of technology into their amps so that the direct outs had that, particular the technology that is in the JDX.

    What to replace 20/20

Well I have just had it with the fan noise on my 20/20. I love the tone I get from this thing. Anyone have some suggestions for a replacement amp, not necessarily Mesa Boogie, but not opposed to that either. Here are some parameters: - I use an amp modeler, vox tonelab. Most of the tone is...

mesa boogie 20/20 -> annoying fan noise :(

I finally got around to installing this fan(see earlier post). It was not quieter. Also, there is buzzing noise coming from the speaker now, so I am ordering a replacement part from Mesa to try that, since the one in my 20/20 has an intermittant problem where it gets REALLY loud, like...

    20/20 ground lift

Audio ground of the 20/20 inputs? So that effectively means, I think that my guitar/pedals/etc would all become grounded to the 20/20 chassis by flipping that switch, rather then grounded to actual earth ground power? When something is grounded to the chassis, what does that mean exactly? My...

    20/20 ground lift

anyone know if the undocumented ground lift switch on the 20/20 is audio ground or power ground? Hopefully audio ground on the audio inputs. Any suggestions about when it would be appropriate to use the ground lift? Which position of the switch is on or off? I have a Tonelab that is...

mesa boogie 20/20 -> annoying fan noise :(

In case anyone is interested or needing this info in the future, this is the model I ended up getting, which I don't expect to be appreciably less noisy: http://www.newark.com/sunon/mb40200v2-0000-a99/dc-fan-axial-40mm-x-40mm-x-20mm/dp/79R6518 It has vapo bearings, which might be a bit...

mesa boogie 20/20 -> annoying fan noise :(

Yea I hear you there, but still I want to find a fan that is marketed as being super silent, it can't hurt. Its a 4cm fan right? I guess the size and screw mounts are standard (I hope?)

mesa boogie 20/20 -> annoying fan noise :(

I'm gonna replace the fan on my 20/20 because the one in there is starting to make some intermittent noises. Can someone please tell me what are the specs of the fan in there, what voltage and what size is the fan? Is it a 40mm fan? If so, is that pretty standard in terms of mounting screws...

Palmer PDI-03 vs PGA-04 rackmount loadbox

I have a question about these devices generally, maybe someone can answer, this question applies to all of them, the Palmer stuff, the Radial JDX or anything else of this type.. Basically I can see that some decently good tones can be had with them. The question is whether the "feel" is also...

    Mesa 20/20 Deep Mod

    - Usually a closed back gives a bit more low end then open back, when you say "cut" do you mean just a small opening to allow some air in, while still mostly bouncing the low end forward? Some closed back cabs will put air ports on the front for this reason. What mod did you do to get 40hz...

    Mesa 20/20 Deep Mod

Have any of you played around with different speakers in your cab to also compensate for lack of beef in the 20/20, or are we all pretty much in love wtih V30's and no way around that? I've thought about switching to G12H30's or something to get a little more bottom end, but the V30's just...

    BBE Sonic maximizer w/Triaxis?

Thanks for the those comments. The mod is forthcoming here for sure. Turns out I can't return the BBE I bought, so I'll hold on to it for a while and try it out with the deep mod and with new tubes as well. I got spoiled on that 2-ninety before, but I feel its close here....and is sounds...
