Hi fellas, can anyone enlightnen me to identify the preamp position of a DC-2? Which of the 6 preamp tubes is a V1, V2 to V6? I have the schematic and know what they do individually, but just cant identify the position. Thanks!!

Okay. Did some preamp tube swapping, and guess what? Loose tubes is the reason. After I have pushed in all the tubes into their sockets, no humming/hissing as I turn up the reverb, and noise only introduced when master level hit 3.5 - 4 for the rhythm channel. Question - will there always be...

Definitely. Mine is exactly a studio caliber with no contour feature.

Miy choice: EH 12ax7 for pre tubes, Solvek EL84M for power tubes.

Welcome to the board! And congrats on the DC-2! I have a black tolex combo and it sounds great! Go find a parametric eq and slot it into the loop, and you got a hell of a greater amp! Enjoy!

Open back DC-2 combo for me, so its a 3 on the bass. Lowering the treble really beef up the bass.

No worry. Try using some electrical contact cleaner, spray into the efx send/return jacks and wait for 1-2 minutes, and clean the jack inner with a cotton bud. Should clean up the glime inside and test again.

Good point there. In fact I have been thinking about a serial mod done to my DC-2, but the intention to keep my amp "stock" has hold me back, and a parallel loop is good enough for me too.. Anyway, just set the parallel loop to 100%, it should be just fine using the eq.

I enjoyed very good tone shaping result, with my newly bidded Boss PQ-50 parametric equalizer in the loop (quiet and smooth), before my Studio Caliber DC-2 finally broke down. A good parametric eq is the way to go. Yup, get one that have adjustable input volume cut/increase function.
