Using Effects Loop "Send" As a "Line Out"

While it can be done, it's going to sound terrible (or at least not sound like the amp is supposed to sound). So much of what makes up an electric guitar sound is the full amp and speaker. Just taking a line from the effects loop is not going to sound like the amp through a speaker...

    TA-30 Cut Mode Noise

I found that the TA-15 on channel 1 is quite noisy, and called mesa to ask if this was an indication of a faulty unit, and was told that the design of that channel is a bit noisy, but that was the tradeoff for getting that tone. Keep in mind, when you are in cut mode, it is the same thing as...

    Mini Rec effects loop question.

I had the same issue, and using a volume control in the loop right after my FX box fixed the problem completely. I run the channel volumes fairly high, and they don't clip my FX unit (Line6 M13), and then run the output of the FX into the volume control (just a guitar pot wired into a box), and...

    Need help with TA-15!

This amp doesn't respond any differently than other amps, if you have a distorted channel and you put a boost in front of it, it will just get more distorted. A boost only gives you more volume if you are boosting into a clean channel.

    Need help with TA-15!

If you really like the sound of the amp, you could get the TA30, which I believe has an FX loop, which would allow you to hook up a boost pedal in the loop for your solo's.

Poor tone when using FX Loop

Try taking all of the FX out of the loop, and just connecting a cable from the loop out to the loop in. Then, turn the loop on and off. If this causes problems, than you have a loop problem (or something else going wacky with the amp). If this is fine, than the problem is within your FX in...

TA15 - anyone else prefer the treble all the way down?

I have found that with my TA15 I've never really loved how it sounded in the room, but recorded it has sounded good. Every time I play it my opinion changes, some days I like it, others I don't. It does make for a nice contrast to the mini rectifier, though, and is handy in the studio.

TA15 - anyone else prefer the treble all the way down?

I had mesa tubes before and after, I think there was an issue with one of them. The change in tone wasn't drastic, but it was noticeable.

TA15 - anyone else prefer the treble all the way down?

Well, a change of power tubes has improved the sound, so it looks like the treble control will be getting a little more use now!

TA15 - anyone else prefer the treble all the way down?

I've got a TA15 and a Mini Rec, and haven't really been loving the TA15 (but like the versatility using it for recording). Recently I found that I was able to get an overdriven sound that I like out of it, but only with the treble control pretty much all the way down. Once I start bringing it...

Mini Recto : FX Loop and power drop problem

I had a similar issue with noise, and it turned out that the issue was just that I didn't have the amp loud enough. Since there is no master volume, anything in the FX loop is basically going into the power amp at full volume, and if it creates any noise at all, that noise will also be full...

Help with cutting through a band mix

I've always heard it's better to have your individual channels all set fairly high and even with each other, and then use the master output to turn things down. I don't have a larger recto, though, so I couldn't say (although I do basically the same thing with a mini recto by having the channel...

Help with cutting through a band mix

Try boosting the 3k and 6k sliders a bit. If your issue is that your amp doesn't cut, those might be your best bet. If you add in another 2-3dB around there, you might get the cut you want without extra volume. Also, try turning your bass down even more (or don't boost it with your pedal). A...

TA-15 - Channel 1 Amp Noise Issue (Sound Clip included)

Well, what I've been doing with the amp is using channel 2 for clean, and channel 1 for dirty sounds (to an extent, this amp doesn't leave the studio, so I do a lot of tweaking). I find that channel 1 with the gain all the way up makes for a great distorted sound, and channel 2 is a much...

TA-15 - Channel 1 Amp Noise Issue (Sound Clip included)

I talked to mesa about the same thing, and the reply I got was that the design of the TA-15 gives a specific kind of tone, but that design results in a bit of noise. When you have the cut control pressed in, you in essence have the master volume turned all the way up, so any noise is...

Low stage volumes with a DR

I'm glad I could help. When you're playing with the rest of the band you may need to bring in more of the treble and presence, to help it cut through a little more and keep it from being buried, but that's something you can tweak as you go, as long as you feel like you are in a good starting...

Low stage volumes with a DR

Have you ever tried that yourself with a 100W Dual Rectifier and 4X12 Recto cab at stage volume? You will feel vibration, but agreed, it should not be an issue. Dom Well, my focus was on the original question, which was dealing with having to turn down the amp to low volumes. If you have...

Low stage volumes with a DR

My thoughts are, if you have so much bass coming from your cab that you're getting vibrations that effect the mic, than your bass control needs to be turned down. On a bass amp I could understand it, since the low frequencies are very loud, but I can't imagine a situation where this would...

Low stage volumes with a DR

It always makes me a bit sad when people complain about their guitar sounding terrible through the PA, and that the sound tech must not know what they are doing. The truth is, every player wants their guitar to sound different, and most sound checks are just long enough to make sure everything...

Low stage volumes with a DR

Try this: Turn the treble and presence all the way down, and the mids all the way up. Adjust the bass so that it sounds good to you, then turn it down a notch from there (guitars really don't need much bass when you've got a bass guitar). Now, start fiddling with the treble and presence to...
