Considering sending in a IV for servicing

Anyone send their IV in for a service going over at Mesa, what did it change (besides fixing some obviously broken function)? Is the packing a hassle (any tips on that)? I always pined for a mark IV and picked one up a couple of years ago. The amp is the only Mark IV I've personally had...

    JP2C stock

I've been looking for a JP2C for a few months (and maybe in the wrong spots), haven't been finding any stock. Also noticed at least one site stopped listing it. Anybody know where any stock is located. Wondering if I'll need to special order it.

    Mark V as IIc+ substitute?

I would say Mark III is least compressed between the III,IV,V. Though I don't find the V compressed, just III is a bit more open. For example the Triaxis is really compressed compared to the III,IV,V. IVb is a bit darker so perhaps that comes off as compressed. It took me longest to get my tones...

    Which Mesa for me?

I have both a Mark V 90 and Roadster (which is a recto) and the Mark V is better sounding at lower volumes. Really need to crank the Roadster to get beyond fizz. I also tend to run the Mark V on variac power and 45 watts. So I'd agree with the other poster that if you are bedroom then Mark V 25...

    Which Mesa for me?

Mark series either old or new. Mark III, Mark V 25,35,90.. will cover all that ground for you. I'd recommend a head with a cab vs the combo.

    WDW : Slave Output

When I ran WDW I split the input and slaved. No interaction between slave and speaker with those 3 mesa amps (none where jp2c). Mesa better known for answering the phone than email, considering giving them a call.

    WDW : Slave Output

I don't have the JP2C but on all other amps I have slave is independent. JP2C manual states.. This SLAVE signal is best applied when connecting additional “guitar amp voiced” power amplifiers for additional coverage in large venues. It may also be used to capture the “dry” sound of the main...

    Thinking bout a LoneStar

I'd like to add an EL84 amp to my arsenal as well. I keep adding more marks though  . I really liked the TA15/30. Also had a lot of fund with DR Maz18.

    Thinking bout a LoneStar

I'd guess LSC would be closer to the V because LSC is 6L6 based where as LSS is el84. Would expect the 6L6 to be bolder and the el84 to bounce more.

Attenuator recommendations for a Mark II

Busy summer and have not had a ton more time with the TAE yet. However I've only noticed the artifact when using monitors/headphones. Also I've noticed that my DT 990 PRO (265 ohm) cans are also adding some distortion of there own. The audio interface I'm driving those cans with isn't up to...

Problems with your Mark V...it's you.

Ain't that the truth, I feel like the RA is a few millseconds ahead of my playing  Especially the clean channel.

    I don't love my Mark V

That's funny I have cabs with ET65 and have always wondered how it compares to an EVM12L  One cab with VET30 & ET65 that I prefer with Mark V. And the other with ET65 & Liberator (appears to be discontinued by WGS), pairing used with RA100. Just contact WGS and ask, as they know speakers..

    I don't love my Mark V

Yeah the effects loop has been something called out really early on within this forum for this amp. Should be multiple threads mentioning that. It’s why I mentioned to keep fx loop around noon and find that sweet spot for the master where the volume jumps and keep it as close to that point. It’s...

    I don't love my Mark V

This https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VO-1jVVCLMQ 8) BTW I added ET65 to my cab to get additional bottom end. So it makes sense to pull the ET65 to reduce the bass. Also is it possible the power tubes are worn adding flub?

    I don't love my Mark V

Yes Mark I and Mark IV modes have more bass. Mark I especially. It will also depend on the guitar I use on how those channels react, will often have set bass to 0 on Mark I and barely much more on Mark IV mode. Power settings will also play a role like pentode/triode etc.

Lack of Low-end on channel 3?

New to the thread, but I was never happy with the bass on Ch3 for the V until I started swapping speakers and cabs around. I couldn't dial around it. For comparison I've run through the 2x12 roadster cab which I assume is the same as a horizontal 2x12, the ported OS provides a noticeable change...

    I don't love my Mark V

Couldn't agree more. Clean on C90 is nice but does not do the Mark V justice. Completely different sound when I went to a 2x12 ported and added a ET65 to the mix. Shout out for port city cabs too BTW! Speaker/cab is such a huge piece of the signal chain. The same cab/speaker combo I use for...
