    Mark IIB Appreciation thread

With ref to your question about the reverb/eq footswitch if you have no eq then the gain boost should be wired up toe the eq if it is not it is a simple mod to do as all that happens is that when the peal is engaed it shunts the mid section down to earth taking it out of cercuit and hence the...

    symptoms of cap death?

A sure sign of cap death is a change in tone and also extreme death or total failure would bring on motorboating as the cap would no longer filter out the cycle noise when the ac gets altered to dc. When mine where dying I noticed that when I played the bottom strings-low E I got a bit of...

mark iv, loud pop, what to do?

Try replacing the fuse, remove all the output valves (6L6 and EL34) hit the standbye switch if the fuse blows you have a short somewhere if it doesn't then it could be your BIOS is set to low and is drawing to much current! (see forum on watford valves site)

    Mk IIb Reverb Ft/Switch wiring

Have you got another amp with reverb? Try plugging the RCA cables into that if you have and that would eliminate the Pan or Amp. Did you check the wiring as I suggested? it might be permanently shorted down to earth as the previous owner maybe did not want to use reverb. Looking at the...

    Mk IIb Reverb Ft/Switch wiring

Ref that Lead/Rythm switch I think for that one you have to have two wires going to it not a + and ground well that's what I've read on ere' but I have not got round to checking it out yet.

    Mk IIb Reverb Ft/Switch wiring

Allo matey!! I could not find anything wrong but having read about someone else having a bad RCA plug ( the moulded one ) I thought I'd go for that first. It's the grey lead that plugs into the chassis end I don't think the other end gets disturbed that much so is best left alone. I would...

Is my Mark a IIa or a IIb? how to work pedals/reverb?

Hi me again, When I tried jiggling the grey RCA cable nothing seemed to happen but I took the bull by the horn and changed the plug, that cured it. It might be worth plugging the tank into another amp using the current wiring so testing connections and then move on to the PCB it's possible...

Is my Mark a IIa or a IIb? how to work pedals/reverb?

If you check my post you will see all the hassle I've had sorting mine out. The Pedal with the Led plugs into the front and switches the Lead channel in that is controlled by the two pots on the right expect a loud POP when you do this. The other plugs into the chassis underneath you will...

Many thanks Boogiebabies for the gut shots unfortunately as is typical the bit I wanted to see was obscured by wiring.I have finally worked it out I hope so this is it!! The gain/boost goes to an RCA Socket located on the chassis just one wire from the mid pot. ( this was wired to the other...

Well I seem to be talking to myself :o I think I've finally cracked it. See if you follow my logic. On the MkIIb they come either with or without EQ those fitted with Reverb/EQ will be wired up to the foot switch socket for switching these in and out those that don't have the EQ fitted...
