I never had any problems with my Mk IV A with R2... I get the Jimi Hendrix tone (with reverb of the amp!) and ACDC tones, I get sweet subtile overdrive for soft songs too. Mark IV + orange 4x12 V30's is just unbelievable. Ultra clean to metalcore to acdc vintage rock, it handles it all!

yeah well I don't hear other tones than metal from boogies mostly so I thought... well the way you record changes a lot :) I bet with a Mark IV it would even sound better :) I still like the sound though, but a bit more low-end would make it perfect grtz

You can plug a 16 ohm cab in the 8 ohm jack in your Mark IV without trouble. As long as the ohm of the cab is higher than the ohms of the input jack you won't get in trouble. You would have when you'd put a 4 ohm cab in a 8 ohm jack, cuz then you get an overload and your tubes will die faster...

Euhm I just read that the V4 must be a 12AT7 tube, is that right? Because I think I didn't notice that when I was searching about new tubes, so that could be the reason. Could a 12ax7 in the V4 slot cause humm and weird noises on lead channel? The first thing I'll do when we play with the band...

Well I decided to buy an orange cab, for a price of 625 euro. I think it's a good price, it's second hand, but looks new, and it's the slope/slant (not rectangular, don't know the word) version, with V30's. In england they cost less, but then I have to shipping and a new one would be 800+...

thanks for the replies... I am going to test some cabs in the summer and I'll look for greenbacks loaded cabs and 1 orange... though it's hard to find an orange you can try before buy in my country :) is 650euros a good price for a second hand orange 4x12?
