    Can Boogies be addictive?

They most definitely are addictive! 8) I've had:- The Mk III super sixty - great amp, regretted selling. Mk IV B combo in Bubinga, fantastic amp which I traded on a Hughes and Kettner Triamp which I also really liked. I did miss the Mk IV though. Mk IV B combo in black tolex. Great amp but...

    EVM 12L

Hi all. Just picked up a nice MK 4 wide body combo on EBay. Does anybody know if the EVM 12L would be a straight drop in?

    Anyone miss their IV???

I've had a MKIV combo and head in the past. I've only had my MKV combo a couple of months and it's taken this long to start getting to grips with it. I'm really starting to bond with it now and after initially thinking I'd made a mistake going from the IV to the V I have no regrets whatsoever...

Mark V impressions after 2 weeks.

Great news! :) I don't have to sell my MKV. Where there's a will there's a way, as they say, and I've managed to sort things out without letting my precious go. Glad to be still on board :D . cheers, Pete.

Mark V impressions after 2 weeks.

Hi all, after having got to grips with my MKV and enjoying it so much now it is with regret that I have to announce it is now up for sale due to a huge unforseen financial outlay...gutted! :( MKV my words though...I'll be back :). Thanks to all for your help and advice regarding this great...

Mark V impressions after 2 weeks.

Thanks again to everyone for your thoughts and suggestions. After about 6 weeks with the amp now I have much more love for the MKV. I've spent plenty of time tweaking but also changing one of the pre-amp valves and replacing the C90 with a V30 seems to have improved things 10 fold for my...

    Silly Question?

As far as I know the 4 screws on the front are purely for the grille. The 4 on top of the amp support the chassis.

    Celestion C90

I've just fitted the V30 and I like it much more than the C90. Warmer, more rounded, not so wiry sounding and I'm not experiencing the 'ice-pick' highs some have mentioned is a characteristic of the V30. So to sum up...it's more Vintage sounding :) IMO you'd have to push the amp pretty hard...

    T-Rex Duck Tail

Think this is a new addition to the T-Rex line up and I'm liking the looks and sound of it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwZEpFk_01A&noredirect=1 For any MKV owners, do T-Rex pedals work ok in the loop of the MKV?

@ave...I understand completely where your coming from regarding using pedals with the MKV and it's not really my preferred direction. The MkV should sound great without them that's for sure. At the moment My RAT pedal through the tweed channel destroys CH3 for a lead sound. This leads me to...

@guitarhinoceros and MBJunkie...thanks for your thoughts. Well, I'm still tweaking away here with mixed results. I've come to the conclusion that my MK4 was a sweeter sounding amp overall but I will persevere and have no ideas of giving up on the MKV at least for the forseeable future. My next...

ave, greetings from sunny (joke!) Tavistock and many thanks for taking the time to write such a comprehensive reply. 'Persevere' is my middle name, I'm an avid tweaker and aside from playing there's nothing I like more. I think this is part of my love for Boogie amps and the few times I...

Mark V impressions after 2 weeks.

Thanks for your thoughts Tuna. I'm much happier with things now than I was a week ago. Tweaking, moving the amp to a different room which allowed it to 'breathe' more, and probably some speaker break-in have helped me to see that there is huge potential within the MKV. I'm finding it a finicky...

Mark V impressions after 2 weeks.

Thanks for your replies guys :) I've had some success this evening albeit at volumes approaching gigging levels. I tried ScreamingDaisy's suggestion of running the channel masters lower ie around 9 o clock and the overall master around 11 and this seems to have helped with clarity. Also...

Mark V impressions after 2 weeks.

Hi all. I've had my MKV combo for a couple of weeks now and in general I'd say I'm happy but not over the moon with it. I've owned the Mk3, Heartbreaker, 2 Mk4 combos and a head, and an Express 5:50 before picking up the MkV. I've been a Boogie enthusiast for over 20 years. I picked this one...

Trade as new LP Traditional Gold Top for ED/MKV

Hi all, I have a lovely Les Paul Traditional Gold Top which I'd like to trade for a mint Electradyne combo or a MK V combo with some cash adjustment. I'd also consider a mint Heartbreaker combo but would need some cash adjustment my way. I bought this guitar for £1599 in 2010 at Mansons Exeter...

    WTB Mesa Boogie Heartbreaker

Thanks for your replies guys. Heartbreakers seem to be expensive here in the UK at the moment. I was looking to pay around £750. My purchase will be delayed for a while as my PC had a graphics card failure which knocked a hole in my budget! Cheers.
