Maybe try a Mesa SPAX7 preamp in V1?

Incoming TA-30 ... Anticipation is killing me!!!

As versatile as it is, I bought it solely because the top boost mode alone was already bloody fantastic 8)

Mini Rec - harmonic/octave distortion on LOW E string

That can definitely happen on any Mesas as far as I know

Stiletto newb looking for tone tips

IMO, to get a more Marshall tone, you need to have the treble up more. You could always run the treble lower, but it doesn't sound very Marshall at all Also, for anyone else that is keen to try this out, I've found that if a tone is ever too bright, you could try lower the master volume ever so...

    Which Boogie Amp?

IMO, you should check out the Transatlantic TA-30 if you can, albeit it has been discontinued

Mesa Road King mk I 2nd channel-other amp with such voicing?

For me on my Roadster, channel 1 alternates between clean and fat modes. The second channel is predominantly stuck in Brit mode 8)

Mesa Road King mk I 2nd channel-other amp with such voicing?

For all we know, the clean modes on a Road King could be a mixup between the Lone Stars and the Mark Is. IMO, the cleans on Mesas improved very much so after the introduction of the Lone Star series A bit of a sidetrack since I noticed that you own a Mark V. I too own the head version. To me...

Mesa Road King mk I 2nd channel-other amp with such voicing?

How's about the clean mode? Just curious of your thoughts as I do own a Roadster head as well. Basically the same preamp as your Road King II. Personally, I dig both modes for different textures and flavours if you will

Mesa Road King mk I 2nd channel-other amp with such voicing?

Not to discredit what you hear, because you hear what you hear, and there's nothing wrong with that. But the Road King II cleans are also based on the Lonestar circuitry

Was hoping for this forum to grow more....

It's under the Recto series, yes. But my point was it wasn't the Single and Dual Recto tones that metalheads were looking for. It had it's own great tone, but it was ignored by many

Was hoping for this forum to grow more....

I would say more of the economy being bad, not to mention time and time again whenever Mesa Boogie brings out a model that isn't in the Rectifier nor Mark series, they tend to get forgotten about. Just like the Maverick model. Such a great model. There have been people that flogged off their...

Mesa Boogie RA100 - Power Board burned

That's great to hear that everything turned out alright. Touch wood, I hope I don't have much issues with some of my discontinued Mesa Boogies. They sound great and are so unique to anything else they offer that losing them wouldn't be easy as in finding a similar replacement

    Mark V with 6V6s...

Perhaps a different flavour. Never found the gain channels ever flubby or too bassy if you use the general rule of tweaking knobs on a Mark series such as turning down the bass, even almost all the way off, when running the gain knob high. Then you bring back the low end via the graphics EQ...

Do I have a hole shaped like a Stiletto?

Still different voicing. The Stiletto will still sound more British

Should I have my amp converted to a removable power cable?

I love the grille. It complements the overall look IMO, even though we don't always spend the time looking at the back of the head 8)
