ElectraDyne -Clean Level control-: Is mine not working???

I have the switch in the normal 'center' position, I was under the impression that the trim control worked in all 3 modes, I guess I could be wrong. That is one gorgeous ED combo you have there, by the way! 8)

ElectraDyne -Clean Level control-: Is mine not working???

Hi Toneocaster, Thanks so much for the speedy reply, I was just curious if I should hear this control actually 'lower' the volume while I'm playing in the clean channel, while turning it from the 'bypass'(all the way up) position then turning it on down, which I hear no trimming effect at all...

ElectraDyne -Clean Level control-: Is mine not working???

Hi all, I have a new ElectraDyne head, and I'm trying to get this control to actually adjust the level of the clean channel. No matter which way I turn it, there's no difference at all in volume. Am I doing something wrong here? Very curious. Thanks!

    high treble loss of articulation...

I find that every Laney (AOR's, GH100L's, etc.) I've ever had to be a bit lacking in the articulation dept, without a treble booster, EQ or overdrive in front of it, for individual notes to kick out in fast runs. Something must be wrong with that Mark IV, which is one of the tightest amps in...

    Is a Mark V worth AUD$10,000?

considering the Mark V is around $2800.00 AUD if purchased in the U.S. before shipping, tax, and duty charges, If I were down in Oz I would just buy from a U.S. dealer or have someone ship it for me and use a step down if needed. Even at $6000.00 AUD, the difference is totally ridiculous, and...

    Played the Mark V today.

You're central jersey? I'm northern near NYC. We could always get together for a little side by side comparison. :) Always happy to jam with fellow Mesa owners regardless of preference. :) Can I throw my Black-Dot Mark III into this mix? If someone around here in NNJ has a IIC+...

Recto 1x12 vs 2x12 and Brit made Vintage 30's vs Chinese

Mesa's Vintage 30's are made in China, just like everyone else's. The only Celestion guitar speakers now made in the UK are the Heritage Greenback G12H30's and G12M 20 watters(which is why they're well over $200.00 each), IIRC. I have both, and to tell you the truth, after they break in, I...

    ELECTRADYNE!!

Sure sounds like it. 8) The overdriven tones have Plexi and Metalface written all over them. I would imagine that little insert guard on the EL34/6L6 Bias switch will be the remedy for what some posters were worrying about with the Mark V's selector.

Two plugs on the bottom of the IIc+

One jack is for EQ and Reverb on/off switching, and the other is the pre or power amp junction (one or the other).

Obsession with "super V" on graphic EQ????

IMHO, a V-shaped EQ curve (to different degrees) is to simulate the curve of some popular British amplifiers, which sound like this normally, like an older Marshall, but with more gain.

My wife is insane. NOW WITH PICTURES!!!

...And people wonder why I've never tied the knot. Just the sight of that mangled speaker and grille cloth reminds me that dying alone would be an easier task. In this day and age, that would qualify as mental cruely or abuse, if you did the same to the fairer sex.

    What's wrong with my tone?

It sounds like something isn't right. I'd dip the mid EQ slider down to about 25% from the bottom, and lower the 2200 and 6600 some more. Turning the presence up to about 4-5, the volume 1 to 8, and treble up to 8-9 may help with this. The V30's are usually a bit top-endy when they're not...

Which Power Tubes For Mark III Simul-Class Black-Dot?

Hey guys, I want to replace the power tubes of my Mark III Black Dot with matched pairs of Mesa El-34's for the outside, and 6L6's for the inside pair. I was thinking of just ordering the replacements from the Mesa online store in matched pairs. Curious though... Does the color grading...

How to plug my Amp into this Cab?

8 ohms per set of speakers, combined this way(in parallel) will make for a *4 ohm* total load on the amp.

    Infidelity

This could be the fault of the 'double-pot' master volume on the early models of this amp. I had a 2205 white 1982 anniversary head that sounded like it was 25 watts(seriously). They changed this around in 1983, and they were *much louder* after that.

Mark IV Can't find settings I seek

Glad to hear that you dialed it in. :D As far as the lead gain, I find that if I keep it above what I set the Lead Drive at(which is around 5) at like 8, you get the drenched gain going, this may be too much, but dial to taste. I would keep it on full-power simul-class in Pentode Mode (not...

Mark IV Can't find settings I seek

From what I can remember, the famous Whitesnake tone (from the '1987' album) was recorded using the lead channels of Mark III Coliseum heads. A closed back cabinet is pretty mandatory, as well as a *very hot* ceramic bridge humbucker. A Les Paul type axe with a mahogany body and glued in maple...
