    Mark Series Serial Numbers

Been quite some time since I've logged in and posted on this forum. Interesting thread. Been some time since I've seen my MKIII (currently in storage far away in the States), yet her serial number is 16861, and she is most definately an '86 blue stripe (from the factory). Doesn't appear to fit...

    Boogie Mark III

With all this MkIII love I guess I'll have to jump into the whirlpool. Yes, yes, and an absolute resounding yes, to everything said in the past, present, and future about the greatness of the almighty MkIII! Yup, one VERY happy blue-stripe owner here.

    September 1984- IIC+ Price List

Imbuya! Yummy! Hmmmm, I'd like a dovetailed imbuya and wicker 4x12 bottom, loaded with greenbacks, casters, inset metal side handles, and the little "boogie" badge placed right in the middle!

For low volumes, Mark III or Mark IV

MkIII SC Blue-stripe owner here. Mine is fully loaded (GEQ, Rev., Fan, etc.) and it must be one of the rare ones because it delivers great tone at any volume. Love it to death! Sure, pumped loud through a good 4x12 is new information, but the man won't allow me to do 150mph on the freeway...

    The Mark III Porn Thread!

Appears that there are many tolex MkIIIs here, but few wood & wicker. Here's my imbuya baby. Sorry for the terrible photo.

    Mark lll Head count

Very happy MkIII owner here. '85 or '86 (I forget) imbuya, blue stripe, simul-class, EQ, Rev., Intl. trans, and MB R2 Gain-Boost mod. Matching original imbuya 1x12 cab w/EV. Rock!

MkIII R2 Gain Boost mod. Am I alone on this?

Wow. Great info! Thanks trem, edward, and Boogiebabies! Haha, this is probably more interesting than my original post. Goes to show how LITTLE time I spend footswitching between channels. BOOGIE-MAN63, still anxious to hear your opinions about the mod. Hope it's working out well for you.

MkIII R2 Gain Boost mod. Am I alone on this?

Hey BOOGIE-MAN63, thanks for the reply. I also haven't checked this post for a while. So, did you get your MKIII back from Mesa in one piece? Very interested to learn your impression of the mod, and see some pix as well in order to compare them to the mod Mike B. did on mine. Sorry that I...

What would the ULTIMATE Holy Grail Mesa Mk III be ......

WOW!...were you reading my mind? Please put away that grail-tone crystal ball! haha blue/simul/reverb/eq/short head imbuya/wicker...plus, intl. trans, elusive Mike B. R2 gain-boost mod and matching imbuya/wicker cab with original EV200-watter (IIC+ models hide in shame!) ;)

    New House for My IIC+

Looks very sharp! Bravo! Personally, and not that you asked my opinion, but I'd quickly remove those "boogafunk" logos. I like funk, but wouldn't necessarily want to advertise it. And as far as "boogers" go, well.....need I say more? ;)

MkIII R2 Gain Boost mod. Am I alone on this?

Bumping this thread out of boredom, and also because the BBForum seems asleep half the time. ;) BOOGIE-MAN63, are you still awaiting your MKIII from Mesa? Interested to know your perspective on the R2 gain mod, and also see some photos if you get a chance. Cheers, Johnny

MkIII R2 Gain Boost mod. Am I alone on this?

+1 BOOGIE-MAN63, very interested to see some pics when you get it. It will show me if the R2 gain-boost mod Mike is giving your MkIII is the same one he gave to mine. johnny

MkIII R2 Gain Boost mod. Am I alone on this?

BOOGIE-MAN63, very interesting...and thanks for chiming in! That "small toggle under the chassis" points in the direction that Mike is giving your R2 the same mod he gave mine. For clarification, is Mike adding an additional "mini" pot on the back of the chassis to adjust the gain, as well as a...

MkIII R2 Gain Boost mod. Am I alone on this?

Amount of extra gain? Very sadly, I've been sitting here in Kyoto, Japan for the last three years "ampless!" All my gear is in storage in Los Angeles, so I'm currently unable to provide any clips of the mod in action, and honestly, am a little foggy about the exact amount of extra gain...

MkIII R2 Gain Boost mod. Am I alone on this?

trem and Ultron, It adds a considerable amount of gain to R2. The best thing is that it's user controlled. The desired amount of extra gain is first dialed in from the dedicated gain-boost pot on the back of the chassis, then activated manually by either the mini toggle (underside of chassis)...

MkIII R2 Gain Boost mod. Am I alone on this?

Just out of curiosity, does anyone else here own a MkIII with the factory R2 "gain boost" mod? I notice that the R2 "volume" mod is often talked about here at the BB, but I never read any references to the gain boost mod. For a little background, my MkIII is a blue-stripe, simul-class short...

Is my early MkIII Blue basically a IIC+?

I was away for the weekend, so please allow the original poster to step back into this thread. First, I must say that I have immense respect for everyone here that has spent the time and effort to dig much deeper into Boogie research than I have ever done. I've already applauded in this thread...

Is my early MkIII Blue basically a IIC+?

Boogiebabies, I was kind of hoping that you would weigh in on this, and thanks so much for your detailed reply! Over the years here, I am constantly impressed with your vast knowledge on all things Mesa. I was unaware that the X101 export trans was rare in MkIIIs, and was also unaware about the...

Is my early MkIII Blue basically a IIC+?

I'm the owner of a fairly early MkIII (serial #16861), and it's a blue stripe. At the mac boogie page he writes about blue stripes: "#4 - Blue: Reshaping of R1 - More aggressive preamp gain - reshaping of R1, Power section made akin to IIC+" So I sit here and wonder what he meant by "Power...

Izzy Stradlin GNR AFD tone - Which color MK III?

A good friend of mine once told me that Izzy definately used a MkIII on AFD. I can't remember now how he knew that (where he learned it), but he said it's for sure. I know that doesn't help you much, but just thought I'd throw it your way. I met Izzy a few times when I was living in LA. We both...
