Question about a mod i'm thinking about

I have the LSC combo with the 10w option which is class A. It's ok to my ears but as i am mostly a class AB guy i was thinking if it's posssible to install a triode switch to the 50w output, "deactivate" the 10w mode (not remove it) and use it's switch. To my knowledge this would give roughly a...

    LSC clean tones

Thanks for your reply my friend. I am talking about the clean sound of SRV and not for his breakup/low gain tone and i thought that the huge clean headroom comes from 6L6 and not from the 6V6. You talking about clean or low gain sound?

    LSC clean tones

Hi mates. I'm planning to buy a LSC and i would like to ask about the clean ch. I'm looking for some tones like SRV's "Tin Pan Alley" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOI-w6Swgsc) and Dire Strait's "Sultan of Swing" solo. If i'm not wrong, SRV recorded this song with a Fender or Dumble and...

Scored DC-5. Why are they so loud?!?!?

As i mention earlier i already know this and it is great for a different sound, more warm, looser. But with this setting you hear 90% the power tubes and 10% the preamp tubes... The other way, with the channel volume high, like 6 or 7 and the global volume lower, besides the fact that you hear...

Can't clean up my DC-5's lead channel with volume roll back

At the moment i'll throw a couple of spare JJs ECC81 which are equivalent if i understand well and if they are ok then i go for mullards   thanks anyway!!

Can't clean up my DC-5's lead channel with volume roll back

Thank you for your time my friend. I'll give it a shot, even if i think they are expensive (3 times more than a regular JJ...) But if they give me what i want, it'll be worth the extra cost

Can't clean up my DC-5's lead channel with volume roll back

So, you suggest a lower gain preamp tube in V2 and V3 or a higher quality one?

Can't clean up my DC-5's lead channel with volume roll back

Thanks for your inputs guys and i think this would be a solution, at least has logic. I don't know if it's v2 or v3 though. Probably vi it's more tone affective in lead ch. @BlackBoxy (considering that Don already modded the amp) Supposing that you have a stock DC, do you have a cleaner sound...

Can't clean up my DC-5's lead channel with volume roll back

Thanks man but it's not the guitar. Actually my Ibanez has treble bleed pot. It's the amp Thanks my friend but i'm sceptical about all amp mods in general. There must be some other way. As much as i love the amp this thing pisses me off!! Anyone else?

Can't clean up my DC-5's lead channel with volume roll back

Thanks my friend. But i would prefer to not touch anything inside like this. Only with this mod i can achieve the thing i'm looking for? There is no other way? is my setting wrong?

Can't clean up my DC-5's lead channel with volume roll back

Hi guys. I'm trying to get a decent "volume roll back" sound from the lead channel of my DC-5 but it seems to me that is so much compressed even at lower volumes, that i can't do it. I can do it in my clean channel though, while have the pull-boost engaged and it's splendid. But i would like...

    need info for DC-2

@amrose57 Wow man, this is a hot tolex...really cool. Although i would prefer it with a kind of tan/cream grill but even this is great!!! Is it original or you re-tolex it? @Pilotltd yeah man, i checked the mod you suggest and i think is a must. EL84s generally run hotter than other tubes, if...

    need info for DC-2

A friend of mine just found a cheap DC2 to buy. I would like to ask 2 things: 1) Is it in weight like the DC5? i weigh my DC5 in a digital bathroom scale and it is 56lbs. Is the DC lighter, considering the fact that the DC2 has smaller cabinet? or has the same weight? Has someone the accurate...

Scored DC-5. Why are they so loud?!?!?

Guys!! A friend of a friend has a dc3 with the mod. So i went his house and played....well i'm sold!!! The taper was greeeeaaaaat!!!!!! I don't know why boogie has this huge volume jump (obviously there is a reason of course) but i'll mod it!! One thing that i've noticed however, is that...

Scored DC-5. Why are they so loud?!?!?

It's not the V1 preamp tube because i already replace it with a ECC81 which is the 5751 and it still the same loud. I read that is the nature of these amps. However i kind of manage it for home use, i setting it like high the total volume (6-7) and really low the channel volume ( 1 or 1,5)...

Scored DC-5. Why are they so loud?!?!?

hey mates, thx for your inputs. I already checked the volume mod and i'm skeptical in any kind of mods...i will see..anyway Do you own any other boogies to compare the volume jump? is it something that only dc has? do you know? Also i would like to ask, can i connect a patch cable in the loop...
