    Fulltone Plimsoul

I have just been using it on it's own through my clean and dirty channels. Mainly in modern mode on the dirty channel. It has similar effect to the TS 9 in that it adds punch while tightening the low end, but the sound is thicker. No nasal boost, but it does accent the high's a little more. I...

Preamp tubes to tighten and thicken Single Rectifier

The RFT is pretty bassy, but I find that its not too boomy or too full sounding. Playing my EMG 81 loaded LTD f 400 through a fulltone plimsoul into my rectifier lead channel set to modern mode, I get a nice thick tone that has nice definition on palm mutes. Chords are nice and defined as well...

    Fulltone Plimsoul

Booyah! Boo-frickin-yah! What else can I see? I went into my favorite guitar store to grab a fulltone OCD, but they were all out. Chris (saleslady) pointed this one out, and we took a look at some demo videos. Sounded pretty good! 30 day refund policy, so I took it home and tried it out. My...

Prefered Series 7025 12AX7 (The Tube Store)

I was just going to ask about this. I am back on the tube habit, and was really considering getting a couple of these to try. Would love to hear some more opinions on them first though.

Preamp tubes to tighten and thicken Single Rectifier

I had an RFT in my V1 position of my rectoverb for about 2 hours once. I thought it sounded pretty decent. Turned off the amp, turned it back on, and the RFT was fried, and yes, I turned my amp back on correctly. It was weird, like a sine wave type sound. Anyways, that was $40 down the drain...

    SPAX-7's

I don't know. I tried them in my rectoverb, and they sucked all the life out of it. I have heard that the spax 7's may be a lower gain tube or something like that. Anyways, I don't think they are worth the extra dough. My 2 cents.

    No distortion on Rect-o-verb

I have the same amp! You should have gobs o gain. I hate to ask, but is your guitars volume up? I have had many a "doh" moment plugging in my guitar with the volume down and wondering why its so clean. If you are running actives, you may need to change your battery. If its not the power tubes...

    Help with Vintage mode

I have been loving the vintage mode lately. So much smoother than the modern mode. The biggest thing I've found is how hard you are pushing the amp. With my output at 12:00 and my master at around 9:00, the vintage mode really opens up, and the mids get really chunky. Bogie tone controls are so...

    New Owner of Used Recto-Verb

I get my mesa tubes from long and mcquade here in vancouver. I'm canadian too eh. Where are you located? Long and mcquade is like the 7-11 of music stores. They are everywhere. You might be able to order from them online or over the phone.

    New Owner of Used Recto-Verb

Congratulations on the boogie my man! I love my recto-verb. I don't know about the mods, but if I were you, I would take out the talk box mod. If you want the classic recto tone, I think the best way to get there is just to use mesa tubes. I have tried a bunch of different stuff in mine, but I...

New valves for my Rectoverb combo

I have played through a rectoverb for about 5 years now, and tried a few different tubes along the way, but I usually just stick to mesa tubes. that seems to be the sound I like. I did try some winged C's, and they were very nice. If you get them through the tube store, just send them the tube...

    Current production favorites for Boogies?

I am currently running Mesa STR 440 6l6 tubes from the yellow group. I have tried running from different colour groups before, but that was only because my local dealer didn't have yellow ones which are what my amp shipped with. Didn't like the reds, greys or blues. Just put in yellows, all is...

    Current production favorites for Boogies?

The SED winged C 6L6's are very cool sounding tubes, I also really like Mesa EL34's as well. As for preamp tubes, the Tung Sol 12ax7 is pretty killer. I am going to be trying some Tung Sol 6L6's or 5881's pretty soon. Anyone have any experience with these?

Using 6V6's in Series 2 Rectoverb

I have been interested in installing 6V6's in my rectoverb. I have heard that they would allow for power tube distortion at lower volumes. Would there be any issues installing these tubes in my amp? Thanks in advance!

Any good tips for a soon-to-be Rectoverb owner?

Good choice! My series 2 rectoverb has been my tone monster for 2 years now and I love it! I haven't tried an OD in front of the amp, but the tones I can get from it without any help are plenty sweet. There is a lot of gain available to you. A lot. Just be patient when you are working with the...

    How about a mini recto!

I think Marshall can still hold it's own in the metal category. Kerry kings JCM 800 is pretty ridiculous. Different strokes for different folks. Pre amp distortion on it's own is not that pretty. That's where power tube saturation comes into play. It smooths it out, gives it some body, and...

    How about a mini recto!

I used to go to my guitar rig 3 software, but even a poorly recorded recto takes guitar rig 3 to school, and then beats the crap out f it and steals it's lunch money. I was thinking of getting one of those Egnater or Marshall mini stacks, and then running my Zvex box of metal through it. The box...
