I can tell you this: After I had this mod done, I've been running a MESA 5Y3 in there probably going on 20 hours or so by now and NO PROBLEM. Before the mod, that would not have been possible. YMMV, but that's my experience so far.

OK, the verdict is in. My amp was found NOT have the factory 5Y3 mod in it. The tech did the mod for me, so it does now. Now we'll see how long a MESA 5Y3 will last. I have another MESA 5Y3 and some fuses for backup, in addition to the Weber copper cap.

Yeah, +1 on that comment. I just had to put in a dispute on a credit card charge for them. They charged my card, and a month later still had not shipped the switch. And no response to emails. I'd stay away from them until they can get their act together.
