    Problem with Mark IV

I believe the 12ax7-a is just mesas version of a lower noise, higher gain pre-amp tube, usually for V1. I would do a complete retube from eurotubes if I were you. Great tone and much cheaper than mesa tubes. You can do a full re-tube for around $100. Bob knows what he is doing with his...

HELP! Lone Star 1x12:ringing/buzzing noise only on one note.

It may be a tube rattle, I have had tubes that would rattle only on certain notes before. I don't remember what the specific name is, but it has to do with hitting a note that is at or close to a certain "resonate" frequency that cause that certain object to rattle, in this case the tube.

Mesa Boogie 6L6 tubes, what's the difference??

pua-leader, you will love your JJ tubes if you have had nothing but the mesa tubes previously. No soul and wrxmania hit it right on the head. Think about it. There are only so many guitarists in the world, and only so many of them are willing to spend the typical $1k-$2k+ for a new mesa...

Cabinet Extensions for Mark IV Widebody Combo

Yes, a rectifier is different then what you would call a normal cab. Rectifier cabs are completley enclosed, and a little oversized. I had a 2x12 at one point, and it was very dark, i didn't like it with my mark. Try a theile or a 3/4 back...if you absolutely need the extension cab. Like...

Cabinet Extensions for Mark IV Widebody Combo

I've heard people say a theile cab works well, yet i've never heard or seen one... As far as multiple speakers or cabs, your mark iv should have 3 speaker jacks in the back, one 8 ohm, and two 4 ohm. I think (i'm not an expert) that you can run two 8ohm rated speakers by plugging each into one...

    6L6 vs. 6v6 in a mark iv

Mangley, thanks. I've never really played a dual rec... could you explain how the 6l6s sounded, just for reference? Also, let me know if you decide to try them in your mark! Thanks

Make me want a Mark IV......

I guess since no one is replying I'll give you my "non expert" opinion. I have a mark iv and while I don't play much of the heavier stuff such as metallica or puddle of mudd, I have heard that people who do play that type of music are rather happy with their mark iv. If dialed in right, the...

    Your Mark IV tubes

As far as anything new, I would highly recommend JJ from www.eurotubes.com. Bob is a great guy, and sells them for lower prices than anywhere else I've seen. Haven't really tried any NOS stuff though. JJ's are a touch darker, but I tend to like that. Good quality, great tone (for current...

    6L6 vs. 6v6 in a mark iv

Hey guys, new to the forum and here is my first post :D Has anyone tried the 6v6s in the mark iv? I played it stock for a while with mesa 6l6s, then I went to JJ 6l6/el34 and it was a big improvement, but maybe a little too much crunch for me. I tried the SED 6l6/el34 combo, and it was...
