    Mark IV question

^^^my feelings exactly. I went from a Red stripe III to a IVa combo and I run it thru a reto 2X12 cab. mine is pretty open sounding (for some reason) and that is one of the reasons I bought it. It's very close sounding to the III I had but has more "ooomph" to it. oh and the far superior...

Have found one thing I dislike about the Mark V

I think this is agood thing. I know it can be a pain if you're playing out live and you switch guitars though. I get this with my IVa as well, it really hilights the different tones of each of my guitars.

Dual Rectifier Decision - Need Advise

don' t let the tubes dictate which one to get , you can swap tubes on either one of therm. I'd go for the lower serial # as long as they are both comparable condition wise.

    Sold

thanks! it's got a bit of a slimmer neck profile and the frets are a little bit smaller (I have Stainless steel 6100's on my Carvin). It's also darker sounding (with 707's in there anyway). I wish I could afford to keep it, as it's an effortless player, and in person it's just gorgeous. It...

Best Mark IV tone i've ever heard

not bad. Mine sounds very similar to what this guy is getting (I play a lot of 7 string) and I've been thrilled with this amp since the day I first got it. http://www.youtube.com/user/milo9

Amp to run in stereo with Mark III

it's more upper than lower. A rectoverb would compliment it nicely. I had that combination for short while and it wounded amazing. Now I'm thinking about scouting out either a Tremoverb or a Roadster and running my mark IV in stereo with it.

    MK IV-A or IV-B?

Nice!! congrats, boy you sure didn't waste any time did you

    MK IV-A or IV-B?

I've played both, but I own an "A", the one I've got sounds very closer to my old III red stripe than any other IV I've ever played thru and that was one of the main reasons I jumped on it. It's not quite as smooth or compressed as you would think a IV would be. I'm quite comfortable using a...

Pedals "overdriving" my Roadster's fx loop

when I had my Rectoverb I had to keep the channel master down below 11:00 or my effects would distort so I'm not surprised if the Roadster has the same type of loop.

Mark IV +OD pedal get Rectfier sound + need ISP Decimator?

I run modded SD-1 in front of my IV and an MXR 10 band EQ in the loop. I can't get a "real" recto sound but it's a lot closer than you'd expect. I run the level dimed and the gain on zero and the tone at about 11:00. I run the lead drive at 6 and the lead gain at 6 with the GEQ in a slight V...

heard a Mark III for the first time ever with my own ears...

I run my IV thru a hotplate at -8dbs and I can run the output at 3 and the Master at 3 no problem. without it, I agree these suckers are loud, but if you turn the channel master off completely and bring th eoutput up to 4 or 5 you can bring the master back in to 1 , 1 1/2 and still get a good...

Got my Mark IV! A few questions.

Hmmmmmm...???? my IV is an "A" combo and the power chord is not detachable?

    EMGS and the IV

I've got 707's in my Ibanez J-Custom 7 string. Very tight ,I love it for rhythm playing, the lead tone is passable but my BareKnuckle loaded gutiars sound way better playing lead. I usually don't like EMg's but in this particular guitar they sound pretty good. I can really nail the whole...

    Mod Kits for Mesa Amps????

more gain in R2 would be great for my Mark IV (or a III)

Suggestions on power attenuator for Mark IV???

I run my mark IV thru a HotPlate. (I run everything thru a hotplate) :D I never go more than -8dbs, don't have to, I just find that all amps have a sweet spot on them and it's usually too loud for in the house playing, so I find it and I just bring it back to a more "reasonable" level. running...

heard a Mark III for the first time ever with my own ears...

don't they sound great! when I had my Red Stripe I was always in tonal heaven. when I got my IV I actually tried to dial it in to sound like my III and I did, just a little fuller. I think the IV(a) is closer sounding to a III than the IV(b)'s are. this "A" I have is the first IV I ever heard...

sounds great, nice shredding I love R2 for this type of playing, with a clean boost in front of it I think it really sings (you sure make it sing)
