Mark V channel switching with g-major

That is specific to certain Mesa Amps but I am pretty sure that the Mark V is not one of them. Do some research on the TC forums & you should get some help there if you are still concerned. http://forum.tcelectronic.com/forum/5/gmajor/

Mark V channel switching with g-major

Assuming the relay switching on the G Major works the same as the G System & I'm 99% sure it does you should be fine. :) Several G System users are using the TRS switching relay jacks on the G system to do this on the Mark V.

Switching Channels by G System CC message using amp Gizmo

Great! THanks! :) Pretty much dedcided to go for the Amp Gizmo & the amp cable. This will give me the option of switching one of my other amps too. with the TRS jacks. Have also had some contact with Ron at RJM & it seems the logic of what I am suggesting here is sound so it should all work...

Switching Channels by G System CC message using amp Gizmo

Also if anyone wants some labels for their G for this application I made some up. :) See here: https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B0Gxc2j67lG8MzVhMmRmNGEtNDFiYi00OTc3LWFlN2EtMWNlYjY1NmY3Yzg3&hl=en_GB

Switching Channels by G System CC message using amp Gizmo

Good luck! If you suss it out let me know! Also curious to know what kind of Global & loop level settings did you end up with for your G System? :)

Switching Channels by G System CC message using amp Gizmo

OK...good to know. :? That being the case may consider going with the Gizmo rather than the mini Gizmo. I coiuld then go with the TS switching jacks on the Mark V & avoid the RJM amp cable as I can still switch channels Boost & EQ with this method. Also can you tell me which...

Switching Channels by G System CC message using amp Gizmo

Yes I did...& on the RJM Forum too.

Switching Channels by G System CC message using amp Gizmo

Is anyone using this method? In theory I think it may be possible to assign 3 switches on the G to send midi CC messages to the amp Gizmo & use that to change channels on the amp. The basic problem I see is that each press of the G sytem switch assigned to the CC number toggles between 0 & 127...

So just got some SED =C='s EL34

Agree! Got some in one of my Carvin X100B heads. Sound great especially with the Gain backed off quite a lot.

    Overdriving channel 2

Once again as I said before firstly I find it hard to believe that you cannot get a good OD tone from the amp alone. :? Did you try the settings suggested above? Interesting to hear that you have the Axe FX which some people seem to think is the Holy Grail that will replace all tube amps...

    4 Cable method.

    Overdriving channel 2

Not if you connect it 4CM.

    Overdriving channel 2

Get a G System & put your OD pedal in one of the loops & you can set it up to engage the channel & the loop in one button press! Only just got my Mark V & still playing with it but surely you must be able to dial in an OD tone in channel 2 on the amp? :?

    Power Tube Colour Coding

Just out of interest what kinda stock bias current per tube are Mesa fixed Bias amps generally set at? EL34 & 6L6?? Also what's the average Mark V PLate voltage?

    Power Tube Colour Coding

yeah I may well do some experimenting after a while. I also have 2 Carvin X100B heads, one with JJ6L6GC & one with Winged C EL34, both heads are based to around 70% (Current being around 42 & 36 ma respectively with a variance of less then 2 ma between each tube). Sounds great!

    Power Tube Colour Coding

OK, Cool. Prob all I need to know. So may as well get a full set. I have a TAD Bias probe for biasing my Carvin amps so can easily measure the exact current myself after swapping them out to check for any large variance.

    Power Tube Colour Coding

As a new UK Mark V owner I thought it would be a good plan to get a complete set of spare tubes in case of any future probs. I went online to the main UK distributor who offers new tubes for sale & was surprised to find no reference to the colour coding that I have seen frequently mentioned on...
