Tube related Q Here: Always a good idea to have a few spare Pre's knocking about just in case so I plan to get 2 or 3. I know any brand will do but as the amp is new for the sake of the warranty I will stick with Mesa Branded ones initially, so is there much to be gained by using the SPAX7...

Maybe......but then it may not sound quite like the song which I assume is what Phil was aiming for? Will prob give it a try though. I thought he nailed the tone of that particular song pretty good. :wink:

OK, I checked it all out today & here are my findings! But to summarise: Good news! Panic over! :D :D I thought before I took the tubes out of the X100B to try the Mesa tubes in it I would just fit my TAD Bias Master & re-check the Bias readings as it’s about 6 months since I last did it...

As a new Mark V owner & an incorrigible fiddler :wink: I decided to check out what the actual Bias readings were on my head. I measured it with my Tube amp doctor Bias probe which permits measuring all 4 tubes at once & this is what I got: Values are going from R to L viewed from chassis...

OK, well I finally got around to doing this & this is what I got: :) Values are going from R to L viewed from chassis rear after the Rectifier tube. Measurements taken with all 3 channels set to 90W mode. Clean channel engaged. All Masters & Output turned down to zero. V10 26.2 ma Outer V8...

I spent today trying it out with just one X100B head & the Mark V in a stereo setup using the Mark V Effects loop instead of the Slave out. That is also working out great & I ended up with similar Global settings on the G System as before apart from turning the Buffer up slightly on the Lehle D...

Further to above I just spent the morning putting it all together. 8) Must say it has turned out better than I could have hoped. Even before with my existing setup with the 2 X100B’s in stereo I was getting good results with the G System so I feared that introducing a third head into the mix...

I have now tried this & it works a treat!! It works best if you set the 3 G system switches to Hold rather than Toggle then assign the rlevant CC number to each switch which for me as I used the default on the Amp Gizmo was: 88 for CHN 1. 89 for CHN 2. 90 for CHN 3. When you do this it is not...

Always a Head for me whatever the amp. :)

I'm pretty sure that Channel 3 does not use the rectifier tube but uses the diodes all the time, hence no switch for it. If the tube looks dead you could try changing it & see if it helps but if it's OK now maybe it was just one of those gremlins!!? :evil:

The left hand tube of the 5 is the rectifier. It looks like you have it switched out at present But of course the switch only selects tube or diode in the 45 watt position. Where do you have you power settings set?

I may have to fine tune it but this is basically what I plan to do: :mrgreen:
